Phone is on vibrate mode but text messages ring .... WHY ?

I was in class today and as always I put the phone on vibrate mode. But I got a few text messages and to my surprise it made the usual notification sound. If someone calls me the phone vibrates, there is no sound, but this setting doesn't seem to affect the notification sound.

Do I have a bug in my phone or is this the normal way? I hope nope because it is so so retarded.

If it matters, I am using a Galaxy SII with ICS + default TouchWiz.

Come on now, nobody knows? Is it at least the same thing with your phones or do I have a bug with mine?

Open text messaging. Hit the Options menu, and then go to Settings. You'll find it in there.

I have NO idea what is going on in terms of your OS, because I haven't gotten to try ICS yet... Only thing i think you should try is hard reset, take the battery out (If you can- again, I don't know a whole lot about the Slll)
wait a few minutes, then put it back in. Turn it back on and use it as normal. I've never heard of that happening, though lol.
Just try turning your phone's sound settings to vibrate all sounds. Really hope I helped(:
