Question Virgin Mobile or Koodo...? Also, how is the HTC One V? Help please! :)

After some terrible customer service from MTS (my phone wasn't getting signal and pretty much said "deal with it"), I've decided to change carriers after my contract is up in 4 months. I'm trying to avoid the big three & MTS so I'm left with either Koodo, Virgin Mobile, or Rogers Pay as You Go.

With Koodo I'm thinking of going for their $50 Canada-wide data plan (150 minutes, 1gb data, unlimited SMS/MMS) along with the HTC One V? I don't really care about calls, and usually use my phone for texting, social media, basic web browsing, and media.

On Virgin Mobile, I'm thinking of getting the Samsung Galaxy SIII on supertab along with their $60 smartphone plan (300 minutes, 1gb data, unlimited SMS/MMS). I'm just not sure how the supertab works. From what I hear if you want to cancel Koodo you can just pay off the tab and be done with it. Is it the same for Virgin.

My main concerns are data speeds, reception, and customer service. Can anyone give me some advice as too which is better?

Koodo and Virgin are both part of the big 3, pick your poison. Also both carriers share towers reception is almost the same except where one carrier has a roaming agreement with another regional carrier.

Both would be similar as Koodo is basically Telus and Virgin is basically Bell. Both Telus and Bell share towers so reception would be nearly the same.
In terms of data speeds, the Virgin Samsung Galaxy S III is an LTE phone so you should get really fast speeds, the HTC is just 3g which is good, but not as fast.
Customer service with Koodo has been pretty good in the few times I have had to call them.

One thing to remember is with Koodo the tab is limited to $150 so the most you would ever have to pay off is $150 when you leave, whereas with the Virgin supertab the max you can put on that is $440. With Koodo it would take about 2.5 years to pay off the $150 tab with the $50 plan. With Virgin it would take a little over 6 years to pay off the $440 tab with the $60 plan. Though with Virgin you could go on a three year contract if you wanted to.

Also remember that Virgin does not offer HSPA in Manitoba yet, So you have to choose a CDMA phone at this time thru them.

Also keep in mind that your Koodo coverage is just for Winnipeg and surrounding areas. I went with Koodo a few months ago and I've been pleased. I brought my own unlocked phone so I can't speak to the Tab but the coverage in Winnipeg generally seems much better than what I had with Rogers.

I opted to get the $30 voice + $20 (1GB flex data) for my $50 option. I lose unlimited texting (50 are included) but gain unlmited e+w starting at 5 pm. That flex option also lets you go all the way up to 3GB for an extra $10 if you go over 1GB.
