Can you upgrade your dumbphone to a smartphone at a subdisized price through Verizon turn it on, then transfer a dumphone back onto that line and not have to pay for the data plan on that line?

So I have two smartphones and two dumbphones on my account. When the dumbphones are eligible for an subsidize upgrade I can upgrade them both, turn them own then turn the dumbphones back on for those two lines. Then sell the mint condition smartphones on craiglist with a hopeful profit of $250, towards my trip to Disney World.
Yes, but do the math. You must upgrade to the new share everything plan. How much more will that cost? Each smartphone is $40 /mo, each basic phone is $30 /mo. You only save $10 /mo, swapping a basic phone for a smartphone.
Are you sure I would have to upgrade to the Share Everything plan. I have went in and done some simulations of the phones and was not forced onto then. But you may be right, I really dont know. Anyone else know?
According to the CSR I spoke with you don't have to get the share everything plan, you can still just add a data plan to an individual phone. Here are his examples for our 3 phones:
Here is a list of reasonable options that we offer...
Option 1: 700 Minute Talk & Text ($80.00 - $15.20 (19% off))= $64.80 + Three Smartphones with 2GB of data each ($9.99 X 3)= $29.97 + ($30.00 X 3)= $90.00.
Total: $184.77
Option 2: 1400 Minute Talk & Text ($100.00 - $20.90 (19% off)= $79.10 + Three Smartphones with 2GB of data each ($9.99 X 3)= $29.97 + ($30.00 X 3)= $90.00.
Total: $199.77
Option 3: Share Everything Plan with Three Smartphones (Unlimited Talk & Text) Plus 4 GB of shared data including Mobile Hotspot. $40.00 X 3= $120.00 + ($70.00 - $13.30 (19% off))=$56.70
Total: $176.70
Option 4: Share Everything Plan with Three Smartphones (Unlimited Talk & Text) Plus 6 GB of shared data including Mobile Hotspot. $40.00 X 3= $120.00 + ($80.00 - $15.20 (19% off))=$64.80
Total: $184.80
Funny when I look at the options, 1 and 4 are almost identical in price, yet we end up with unlimited voice minutes, we already have unlimited text, so why wouldn't we pick option 4 and never worry what phone we use to call whoever again.
I am looking to do almost exactly what you are talking about, but instead of selling the phones, I'm going to buy them on a dumb phone line (not switch to shared plan), then reactivate the dumb phone, then activate the new phone on an existing smartphone line to avoid losing unlimited data on those lines...at least, it's my plan.
I currently have 3 unlimited smartphone lines and 2 dumbphone lines on the 1400 min plan.
Does anyone see a flaw in my plan?
NoLegs that exact same game plan has entered my mind to as an option to keep from losing my unlimited data. I mean, I really don't mind losing unlimited data since I use around 1 GB a month. But I will loose my 20% discount on my data.
The biggest data issue I have is with my phone (rooted DInc). Since it's a 3G phone, I use wifi alot, because it's faster than 3G. Obviously if I had an LTE phone, I wouldn't use have to use wifi. Currently I use only about 500MB/mo, because of how much I use wifi. That would probably triple if I just used data.
Am I in some kind of time warp, or did VZW make some drastic changes in the last couple of hours?
What the h--- has everyone been screaming about the last month or so?
Didn't VZW initiate Share Everything plans effective June 28?
Isn't it true that anyone who purchases a subsidized phone on or after June 28 must select the Share Everything plan?
Someone is misinformed. If it's me, I apologize. Check with Verizon.
No my husbands line is in for a upgrade today. If I were to pay full price I keep unlimited, if I were to upgrade to a subsidized phone he would be allowed 2GB for $30.
We have a 3 line family plan. When I added a line, with a smartphone, it added the line to my plan, 1400 minutes ($9.99) and I had to pick a data plan (2gig/$30). Either there is a sna-fu with online ordering or some other weird crap is going on.
