    Triumph love, yes, love.

after months and months of defaming the triumph when it first came out and part convincing myself that I did not need it with all its baggage i finally caved..

got a used (pretty much mint condition, still with the hard to peel screen protector) triumph from ebay for 105 bucks!!!! I just want to say that all my original complaints were in fact valid, BUT i installed the ported sharp rom and this thing is AMAZING. no lie. so i am glad that i just bought it now, when the sharp rom is fine-tuned and stable, I will keep it as long as i can keep my 25 dollar plan haha

the best way to "pimp" this phone is to flash that rom; gps locks within 1 min (MAX, usually in 15-20 seconds), i get at least 1 more hr of batt life, and i do not have the touch sensitivity issue, coupled with the fact that you could tether (with a workaround) there is no phone that will let you do what this now can do for 25 bucks a month. (ive never used the tether... I can only imagine how slow it would be given the VM "3g" speeds, but its still a nice option to have) I also downloded rom toolbox lite (free) to add custom lockscreens without taking up too much memory (like go locker).

AND, on ebay there is a 2,000 mAh battery for like 5 bucks. Mines still on the way from china but when it comes I am positive that the phone can make it through a whole day even under heavy load. This phone is finally a winner!

i am not sure if we can link on HoFo but just google it, should be on android forums- Stock & Deodexed Sharp ROM 2.2.2 for the Triumph

just wanted to share in case there were more $25/mo ppl thinking of getting the triumph, its obviously not worth it if you pay $35/mo since you could just get the evo

Sounds like you found a good one.

I personally would've gone for the One V, but $105 is a good price.

Triumph is far better than the One V if you know how to root.

I'm planning to do the same, does HDMI work with the sharp rom?

Also, if you root it doesn't matter if you get a "good" or "bad" Triumph.

yes everything works because its based on froyo (meh..) but the rom is great. although im not too big a fan of the sharp launcher, its snappy and smooth, i like having the regular 5 icons found on the ics launchers so i installed zeam launcher (its less that 1mb and uses very little resources)

Where's the like button? I absolutely love this rom.

About that battery, please keep us updated. I've heard of fake batteries showing up on ebay and from China non the less. Something about them listing them as 2,000 mah but when you get it and peel the label back it has 1380 mah printed on the plastic casing. Just a heads up on that. Let us know what you get.

Not only that, the batteries may be dangerous. They do blow up. OEM is always safer.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2000mAh-TOP-...item3a7594b16c

there were reviews about this exact battery on youtube (not sure if it is from the same seller, but the cover looks the same), they all saw large improvements in batt life so it seems legit. at worst its a backup battery for 5 bucks... free shipping!

in hindsight i should have bought this one:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-pcs-2000mA...item3f172da0dd

but its 19 cents extra.. LOL in all seriousness tho i should have gotten this one because there is no typo in the listing, ("cabicity" in the first link) however they had a "top seller" tag so i was going to risk it, plus im really really really cheap (you save 5% with 19 cents off).

Thanks! I'm definitely going to pick one of these up. Can't beat the price.

So, this sharp rom...what's it all about? I currently have CM7 and have been overall pretty satisfied with it. Is the sharp rom that much better? Last I heard about it, the MMS didn't work?

CM7 has more cool features and customizability, Sharp is popular because it is a modified version of the stock OS but everything works (HDMI, MMS, etc.)

Gotcha. You just sacrifice battery life and such with Sharp I suppose. Maybe that's why the extended battery is needed with it. I really, really like CM7. The screenshot function is pretty sweet.

Yeah I think CM7 is alot better but when I get the Triumph I'll probably stick with Sharp since HDMI works.

no way, i got AT LEAST 20 more mins with the sharp rom than cm7. if you have the know-how to root, then all of the tweaks that are found on cm7 can easily be applied on the rom (except maybe for the easy prl swap, but thats mostly hit or miss anyways). i dont even use juice defender... i think it drains battery to some extent i have quick settings from the play store and use that to toggle things on or off.

i did a test a few weeks ago to see batt life for cm7 vs the sharp rom. it was not scientific in any way but i had cm7 on for 2 days and came home with about 12% batt life both times, then i put the sharp rom and came home with about 15-16% (havent looked back since) obviously not a big difference but still important if youre using the stock battery. in any case both roms are better than the stock (i used to come home with like 3-4% left) i think the sharp room feels snappier than cm7, also i haven't had a single random reboot yet.

triumph is a great phone.... and one of the easiest phones to root, ever.
