Galaxy S3 VS HTC One X from Rogers

Will be getting one of these phones as an upgrade. Since they are both very new I don't seem to be able to find any shoot-outs or cross reviews. I know the HTC's battery isn't removable, but it is a quad core VS the S3s dual core. Is this really a big upgrade?

Would be nice to go through a whole day without the phone battery dying also..

There are a ton of shoot outs of both phones in Youtube.

The difference of quad 3rd generation cores vs. dual 4th generation cores in performance don't seem to be much in real time perception. Neither is their power benefits, but do note that single and dual cores of the previous generation don't hold an advantage in power consumption over the latest chips.

While the Galaxy S3 does have a bigger, removable battery, the One X does have a number of built in power saving tricks of its own. The Tegra3 especially, is a power miser in standby mode, as my experience of it in tablets.

I personally think the S3 has a slight edge over the One X, but its not the knockout the previous generation S2 had over its Sensation rival. This one goes down to the judge decisions and personal tastes, subjective feelings can decide the matter for you.

Both the One X and GS3 on Rogers are dual-core; to get efficient LTE, they had to drop the quad-core from their international versions.

The GS3 should theoretically last a bit longer on battery, but my pick would be the One X for Sense UI. It's just less intrusive and focused more around improving common tasks instead of "look at what I can do, ma!" stunts. That's not to say that the GS3 doesn't have handy features, but it smacks of Samsung trying too hard.

Other short-form food for thought: the One X screen is better, and I prefer its build quality. However, the GS3 is a bit easier to fit in your hand, and of course it has both a replaceable battery and a micro-SD slot. I prefer the One X's use of navigation keys closer to the Android 4.0 spec, which make it a lot easier to switch apps, than the GS3's attempt to hold on to Android 2.3 multitasking (i.e. you must hold the home button to switch). And Sense's camera app just seems a bit more intuitive. Samsung's cleverest feature seems to be Smart Stay, which is definitely handy if you spend a lot of time browsing or reading books.

I am in the same boat of deciding between the two as well. I already bought the HTC One X and I got the S3 as a review device and the screen and camera on the ONE X is way better then the S3 in my book. With HTC featuring the new f/2.0 lens, the pictures come out AMAZING. But the S3 has true multitasking as where the HTC ONE x does not (google ONE X multitasking) so if you really on true multitasking then go with the S3. It is also hard to avoid the fast that the S3 has a microSD slot and a removable battery.

Can't make up my mind either. I may just go with the S3. I have a iPhone 4 now

I'd wait for the next iPhone (probably in October) before you drop your existing app ecosystem. Most expect a bigger screen, LTE, a faster processor and possibly other surprises like NFC. Yes, in some senses it'll be like catch-up, but you'll also be in a familiar environment, get a better camera than the GS3 (I've used both folks, the iPhone 4S still wins) and probably manage better battery life in the process.

I picked up a S3 Friday. Personally not really impressed. Maybe because I'm use to having a iPhone. The S3 isn't as easy to use either.

Then I can't transfer all my contacts and pics because my laptop crashed and I had to get a new hard drive. Lost my original marriage between my iPhone and iTunes.

I went to Best Buy today because I wanted to play around with the S3. I also saw the One X and played with it. I was amazed by its screen quality. Now I am torn between the two. (But, I'm also considering to wait for the next iPhone and Nexus.)

Both the phones are great to work with. It is very difficult to find drawbacks with the two mobiles. But when comparing them together HTC One X is better than Samsung S3 when it comes to make and built of the mobile, operating system and camera. Samsung S3 is better with performance and battery life. So overall, HTC One X is much better than S3.

My friend mentioned that the S3 has 2GB RAM and the One X has only 1GB. Doesn't that make a big difference between the two?

RAM is a huge difference between the two, and the fact the SGS 3 has TRUE multitasking and the one x does not... made my choice very clear SGS 3 is a far superior phone.. oh and I have 48 gb of space in my SGS 3, what does the one x have? oh and 50 gigs of drop box space so thats the icing on the cake right there

I have said in my comment that Samsung is the best when comes to Performance. It includes both processor and the RAM. But when you look at the phone including the entire feature, HTC One X edges ahead. If you are talking about multitasking sure Samsung is way ahead.

How does the one x edge ahead? both phones have north american versions which have the same processor but the GS3 has 2 gigs of ram, the international version both have quad core exynos with its mali chipset mop the floor with the tegra 3... not sure where you're getting your info.
