Mobilicity shuts down another dealer. Mobilicity just shut down Yaletown Wireless

Mobilicity management in Vancouver really needs a fine tuning. Many of the senior people have left for safer waters and now they just go and shut down dealers because they don't like them. Yes some of the dealers do have lower numbers in terms of activations but they are places for Mobilicity customers to pay their bills and get support.

I went to go see the guys at Yaletown Wireless today to unlock my phone, and Mobilicity reps were there taking posters down and basically shuting them down. These are people who run businesses and also contribute to the retention of Mobilicity customers. Right after the reps left, 5 people walked in to pay their bills, but were turned away, they were pissed off, talking about changing carriers etc.

I don't think this is the way that business should be handled, especially when Mobilicity is in a crunch for activations. I know this location well and they were the only mobi dealer in the area. They were never really that busy, but they were very thorough, new their stuff and offered really good service.

Mobilicity chose the independent dealer model to offset the operationial cost of owning and managing its own stores, but many of the business owners that they have taken advantage of are good people who are just trying to make a living. This in my eyes is a terrible way for the new carriers to run their business in a hugely competitve industry. milk the dealers for all their time, effort and money and then shut them down cause they had a few slow months.

That makes no sense; why would Mobilicity care that a dealer isn't activating many users? If a dealer wants to lose money and keep trying, that's their problem.

I suspect either they did something to deserve Mobilicity shutting them down, or they did so voluntarily if they were losing money.

They didn't do anything wrong, and they are not losing money. They said the reason they were given was due to low performance. So they asked if they could remain in operation at a lower tier, with less support but the new GM basically said nope no reconsideration. I thinks its a terrible thing. These guys were very good. I have personally referred lots of people to them and even posted stuff for them because they were such good guys. Tragedy

There were other reasons for them being shut down, reasons that will not be made public.

of course the reasons won't be made public, if they were made public, most people would probably side with the dealer and the people who made the decisions would look like chumps with egg on their faces. I was told that there was some beef with Mobilicity management and it seems it was more of a personal decision by the managers at Mobilicity, not very professional, letting their emotions get the best of them.

Pay online or go on pap (pre authorized payments).
If you wanna unlock your phone, try Ebay.
as long as the plans are super cheap, I don't care if they close all their dealers and move everything online or to corporate stores.

Lets just put it this way, there is a contract that is signed between Mobilicity and a dealer which has certain clauses where Mobilicity can take away a dealership if certain things are done or not being done, "emotional" management cannot just do whatever they feel like, the law is there to protect the dealer as well.

I must say I have to agree with 604 on that....these dealership arrangements aint an handshake over a sandbox like we did back in 4th grade....they are intricate legal agreements.....no one can just "go" to anothers place of business and just take down things....this aint the wild west...there are procedures for that...

Unfortunately a lot of Mobile dealers seem a tad shadey. Making up rules as they go along. I wish the stores were corporate run, and not franchised.

I think then if there are things that were done and not done. Mobilicity needs to be transparent with the dealer as to why the decision was made other than stating that they can revoke a dealership at anytime based on the dealer contract. From what I understand in this case they were not presented with the facts other than " read the dealer agreement" and a dealer rep stating that the decision was made but it was not her decision. It was a decision by the GM and that no one else knows other than him. A call was made to him and his reasons were low performance, and other factors that he is not willing to discuss. Well that is not transparency. This is a persons lively hood being controlled by an individual who doesn't care what the outcome for good business people. Mobilicity, I believed in you but you are almost worse then the big 3. Especially the way the company is managed in Vancouver!

Wait a second. Low performance is B.S. if you are a dealer. Why should mobi care if you are losing money based on low performance?

Exactly. And the "other factors" that they would not even discuss with the dealer who they were shutting down? It makes me wonder what the other factors were especially if they would not discuss with the dealer, leads me to believe there were no other factors.

I'm sure management was transparent with the dealer. Why would they not be? For that matter, they are losing a dealership with no alternative nearby, from the sounds of it. Why would they make such a potentially negative move without good reason? I think you may be going for Mobilicity's neck little too soon.

I think there might be more to the story. Obviously the "other reasons" is the real kicker. I'm inclined to support mobi on this considering that there's been some horror stories about dealers although i don't remember hearing any complaints about this one.

If you're just a regular customer, why are you so sure that the dealer was telling you the truth about why they were shut down? If the dealer was running some sort of scam on the side, and that's why they were shut down, of course they're not going to tell you that.

Of course, your posts here (the money quote: "We run a reputable business, who are you to comment on how we do business." ) indicate pretty clearly that you're not actually just a regular customer, but rather an employee or owner posing as a regular customer in order to sneak in some free advertising. So, given that you now have a documented track record of lying and using underhanded techniques to attract customers, your talk of how great this dealer is becomes essentially meaningless, and I would not at all be surprised if you were, in fact, running some sort of scam on the side.

You are dishonest, disreputable, and Mobilicity (and its customers) is better off without you.
