Sorry, I've been out of loop for a year or so. Last time around, I remember I can add a $1.49/day data plan if I ever need data on a certain day. Now, I can only see the $2/day unlimited everything from the offering, and it looks like it will renew itself automatically everyday, is this right?
Btw, is there a way to check the expiration date of my refill? I added $50, and I know it's good for 90 days. But don't know exactly which date it will expire.![]()
That would be my.t-mobile.com.
Yes the 1.49 data pass was nixed when the new daily plans came about. Now you can either get:
$2 daily plan with unlimited data at 2G speed
or
$3 daily plan with 200MB at 4G speeds
The speed on the $3/day plan after you hit 200MB is "slow". I have seen 60kbps-120kbps max (lower speeds when on 3G). You do not get full EDGE speeds. Even on EDGE I can see the throttling using speedtest.
i don't think they throttle EDGE its speeds just very like that. one second its getting 140kbps the next its down to 40kbps. and im not even close to any cap.
I tried to test the 2G speeds on the $2 plan but the Tmo signal here is too poor here. I would hope the $2 does not have throttled EDGE.
Based on Hofo anecdotes here, it appears 60kb is the average download speed on the 2g plan. It appears that it may be more throttled 3g then full speed 2g. One trick that may work (depending on the system configurations in your local usage area) is forcing a 3g phone to EDGE. That may possibly bypass the 3g to 2g speed throttled and allow you to get full 2g speed potential. Some users on Simple Mobile's also throttled so called 3g unlimited plan (max speed of 119kb) is to force it to edge and that punches the speed up a bit more to say 140 in some cases. Having a phone with wifi as further backup helps...
