I was at the Casino the other day, and went to withdraw some cash, and saw an extra charge of $3 just to withdraw my own money. I remember 2 mnths ago I went to the same Casino and was charged $1.75.....Its seriously getting ridiculous in this country. $3 bucks to withdraw my own money...........and then they tell ya to spend responsibly.
What a joke..................
The point is that there is no one to keep an eye on this things as Canadians keep getting gauged millions every year by these Corps and our beloved government who just watch as businesses keep ripping Canadians apart. Tomorrow the same bank machine will start charging people $4 to withdraw money, and this will keep on going on and on. No wonder its getting harder and harder for an average Canadian to make a decent living in this country. All these fees and charges are becoming so obvious yet our half ***** government doesn't want to do anything about it.
These are the times when I really remember Jack Layton. Too bad he had to leave so early. Sometimes I wonder if god really exists or not as the people who want to make positive changes often are taken away from us.
RIP Mr Layton...........![]()

I think I've only taken cash out of an abm that wasn't my own banks' machine perhaps...twice (their svc fees are way too high and absurd). It's their whole premise of a profit margin. Add onto that the 'spending money' culture in a Casino and I think it makes perfect sense to jack up the svc fee. While I wish it was all freeeeeeeeeeee, you can't deny that it makes sense to premium'ize the rates at that place.
I do agree it is brutal-but hey...everybody wants to make a buck.
Excercise disciplined financial spending and you can plan ahead and not find yourself hungry to spend another $200 or whatever at the Casino lol.

There's a reason banks and carriers are so unpopular with Canadians.
Having said that, ATM fees have always been a problem. You are much better to plan you week or time in the casino ahead of time and withdraw what you need before to avoid these types of fees. And to be fair, realistically, if you are in a casino, your entire visit is predicated on the idea that you are going to lose money anyway.
You seen that did you?

You could always store your money under your mattress.
Before there were ATMs you had to drive to the bank and withdraw your money free of charge.
I'm sure those ATM's cost money to be there, they have to be purchased, maintained, re-stocked probably daily if not multiple times daily and they need power and either a phone or internet connection to function. Chances are good the spot where it sits is leased as well. All of which cost money.
If the ATM is not owned by your bank, why should the ATM owner just give you, who is not affiliated with them in any way, free service? Just because it's YOUR money? Well, it's THEIR machine and if it wasn't there you wouldn't even have the option to get YOUR money.
You're not forced to use the ATM. You could go old-school and drive to your bank during business hours and make a free withdrawl from a teller. Or just go to your bank and use their ATM where you "don't pay a fee". It's actually just buried in all the other bank-fees you pay.
^^^^
Solution go to your bank to withdraw cash and pay nothing.
Here's the info that was sent to reps about the charge.

So, just claim your blind and your good to go?
WHAT!??? mANUALLY APPLIED!???
So howz about we get some rep to 'mannnnnually' apply some CREDITS to our accounts then??
Wait, one of these options is the IVR. I thought Mr. DataDude said Rogers didn't have an automated phone system for changing my5/my10 numbers.
I just assumed the guy who knows everything knew what he was talking about. I just called into Rogers and sure enough, you can change your my5/my10 numbers by calling in and using the menus without talking to a rep. I'll be darned.
So it's $5 to talk to a customer service agent or you can do it for free by IVR which his grandmother desperately needs, Rogers.com website, my account app on smartphones or the WAP browser on dumbphones.
That's probably still not good enough for those who need to be spoon-fed everything for free though.
Yeah, pretty much. I think I read somewhere that they don't verify. Not my cup of tea, but there it is.

In the 18 months before moving to become the ombudsman, Moffatt helped rewrite about 100 company policies to make them more friendly to customers.
For example, Rogers no longer asks for a death certificate when asked to disconnect services and waive cancellation fees for someone who died. It doesn't demand proof of disability when asked to provide free 411 access or Braille services.
If this is not system enforced, I don't see reps charging customers to do this. They can easily fudge the notes and say Myrogers.com was down and just change the My5/10 for the customer and salvage their handle time. Reps who try to charge customers for this will realize that they will spend more time arguing with customers over this fee and manually debiting the account, thus increasing their average handle time.
