Ever since day one of owning the HTC Rezound, I have had issues with connectivity when using the hotspot. It is just soooo unreliable that I considered just accepting the fact that it is a feature I just have to pretend does not exist.
Over time though, I kept wondering whether ice cream sandwich might fix this issue. But I waited and waited and waited for ICS to no avail...even though it had been promised in early 2012 and then again a few times when leaked versions of it surfaced on the internet. I never did download any of them, always just preferring to wait for the official OTA to come...and waited and waited and waited. I even at one point, started looking at other phones to try and find one with which the hotspot feature would work, but started reading that many Verizon phones were having the issue. I found out that it may not be the phoens at all, but perhaps Verizon's system which had problems with the hotspot feature.
Well, I finally I got tired of waiting and downloaded the latest version of ICS for the Rezound. And guess what...no more hotspot problems!! Magically, my Rezoound has not lost connectivity using the hotspot, not even once! I have been using ICS now for over a week...not one problem...it works like a charm.
So, the question is...Why on earth Is Verizon doing this to its customers? WHY are they STILL delaying the official OTA release of ICS when it obviously does fix one of the biggest problems that they have with this phone? Other phones have gotten the OTA, but with the Rezound all I keep seeing is that it is coming! First early 2012, then April, then May, then June/July and now I am hearing rumors that it may not be until August! My word!!!
For anyone with the hotspot problems who is sitting on the fence about whether or not to download the leaked version of ICS...DO IT. It WORKS!!
Im still waiting for ICS for my Bionic, but my Razr already has it. Part of the issue is every Android phone is different and the software people have to work on software for each phone and then VZW has to test it (drag their feet) and then the manufacturer usually soak tests it and under month its released
