    Voyager Pro HD lousy range....

I just got this newest headset by Plantronics. The range is really lousy. In fact, I can't even put it in my back pocket without it breaking up because that is too far from my ear. If I walk away from my phone, the connection is completely dead within 5 or 6 feet.

With my 510, I can walk 30 feet away before it starts breaking up.

With my Sony BT-50, I can walk over 100 feet from my phone and the signal stays rock solid unless I walk behind a thick wall.

I just ordered a replacement from Amazon because I'm hoping the one I have is just faulty, but it looks like there are similar reports on the amazon review board.

I'm guessing plantronics chose the lowest of the 3 bt power levels for this headset and that the 510 was probably using the middle setting. Anyone know if there are any tricks or backdoors to upping the power setting?

I don't know about power settings, but there are a few customization settings (A2DP on/off, etc) you can try. Plantronics has an on-line configuration tool you can use.

It appears there's also a firmware update.
Air goes in and out. Blood goes round and round. Any deviation is a problem.

I'd agree with the OP. I've had 2 of those headsets, firmware updates and all, the range is crap compared to the competition. Try a Bose Series 2
