Is anyone else experiencing crappy battery life and heat issues with their S III? With LTE on I can barely make it through 9-10 hours. With LTE off, I've managed to have about 15-16 hours with about 2 hours of screen time. Also, the phone gets warm for no apparent reason around the bottom part, especially when using Facebook Messenger.
When I'm looking at battery use, most of the time, the biggest culprit is Cell Standby. But in most places where I go, at work or at home, my signal is strong.
Is this a software issue? Should I
exchange the phone? And who's to say the next one won't be the same?
I do not have a lot of things running - 2 Gmail accounts, a couple of widgets, FB, WhatApp.
Over at XDA there are lots of people complaining about the same thing. Some people have crappy battery life, while others are claiming to be at 40% after 1 day 20 hours of use. A colleague at work has the exact same issues as me. His S III is also from Rogers, but I don't believe this is limited only to Rogers.
Please post your experiences with this. I am hoping to hear from howard, HC - NO "i" and Steve Punter about this.
Thanks!

it looks like you're in a poor signal area and your phone is trying to find a signal all the time (this wastes a LOT of battery). that's what it seems to show. maybe it's not reporting the correct values

Not where he took that screen capture, though you may be right. He should also check that he hasn't got an app running that tries to get a GPS lock. If it continually tries and he'd indoors, it may run down the battery and heat up the phone in the process.
