My current plan is family plan with 700 minutes voice, with three lines:
Line 1 - unlimited data (grandfathered) eligible for upgrade pricing 10/2013
Line 2 - dumbphone eligible for upgrade pricing 09/2013
Line 3 - dumbphone eligible for upgrade pricing 01/2004 (yes, 2004)
If I decided to upgrade Line 3 to a smartphone, what will happen to my plan?
I must continue to have unlimited on Line 1, but I don't mind having just 1GB
or 2GB on Line 3. (in fact, Line 3 will probably have very little data usage)
I asked two VZW agents over the phone and got conflicting answers. Went to a
VZW corporate store and got a vague answer("sir, can't tell you until I enter your
purchase of new smartphone into the computer")
Needless to day, I'm confused... I just finished reading all the recent thread
on this subject and it got me even more confused... Please help me.
Thanks!

What? NO! Please don't give wrong information.
As an existing customer you can keep your 700 family share plan. If you do this, the data is tied to each line so you'll have 1 line with unlimited data while the other 2 will have tiered data still.
Then I am getting bad information from the reps at my Verizon store. They told me yesterday there is no way to keep my unlimited line if I upgrade any of my lines. Hopefully I am wrong then.
Thanks for the info.

I just checked my account online, it will let me add a line on my existing 1400 minute plan. It will even let me change the amount of minutes. When I have to pick a data plan it let me pick the tiered data. 2gb for $30.
I might end up adding a line when I need a new phone, if they will let me cancel the data right away. It will be a little cheaper then paying full retail.

The reps are wrong, no surprise. They might even be purposely giving you the wrong information since Verizon is pushing the new plans and offering a better commission under certain circumstances if Share Everything plans are selected by current customers.
The correct information is that you have the option to upgrade both of those existing lines to smartphones at upgrade pricing and select tiered data for each line, starting at $30 for 2gb and maintain your current family plan.
Vz is trying to get everyone on the new plans.
No existing customers are forced to change. One line won't affect the others. Upgrade line 3 to a smartphone and line 3 will get the $30/2gb package and all other lines will be unaffected. You can even add more $9.99 lines to your existing plan and have the tiered $30/2gb package on those new lines and leave line 2 unaffected. I hate hearing all this misinformation being spewed by people that should know better.
I'll also add in that Cares is correct. The OP can choose tiered data or the Share Plan.
Thanks for all replies... you guys can see why I was confused, right? There should be a sticky somewhere
on this forum so people won't keep asking the same question over and over. (I'm guilty of doing just that,
but only because I'was so confused with all the conflicting info)
Thanks again!![]()
