Nice feature, but the per minute still isn't the best, but it's certainly not the worst either! I do wish T-Mobile would just give up on their crappy per minute rates for the lesser refills, and just make everything $0.10 per minute (they could even consider pushing that down as well!), like AT&T. T-Mobile could just keep the Gold Rewards idea for the expiration interval, any refill giving you a year to go when $100 cumulative spent is achieved. But it's quite obvious they're not interested in really competing in the PAYGO market (are any of these companies?). Let's hope they don't do anything to further rock our boat in a negative way.

(Where is the Evil Cat, Snowy?!)
while the tracfone service time stacking ability and TMFL is extremely enticing, i still stand behind T-Mobile's ultimate lowest cost of service once you've reached Gold Status. once Gold Status is reached, it literally costs you $10 / yr to maintain your service which is great for emergency phones or a second phone. in my situation, since i primarily use my work blackberry as my main phone for everything, the T-Mobile plan works out great. i only use my T-Mobile phone if i need to make a phone call or text message that i don't feel comfortable using my work phone for. in the 3 years i've had T-Mobile i have only run out of minutes once.

with exception to the above experience in Post #1, T-Mobile has honestly been fantastic. that's why i was truly shocked that they didn't even budge whatsoever despite my 3 years of active service

which prepaid plan do you have?
    over and out.

I have PAYGO (or PBTM -- pay-by-the-minute), coming up on seven years now with T-Mobile.

I'm with you for the most part, and my longevity with the plan speaks for itself. I just feel bad when I do the $10 annual thing and I'm only getting 35 minutes for it. That's almost $0.29 per minute (for that batch), which is not a good value! Sooner or later those minutes will be used. Obviously the "value" is in the luxury of the long refill interval and minimal additional cost, but you pick your poison. I hedge my situation by also having a line of service with Page Plus Cellular.

Let's see if I understand you correctly. You're upset at TMo because you forgot to re-up your prepaid minutes? I have prepaid minutes too. When I log on to my account, it provides me with the renewal date. TMo also provides me with a number #225# and #646# to check my remaining minutes and balance. When does your responsibility begin?

I believe I stated TWICE in my post that I am aware that I am ultimately responsible for keeping track of my expiration date, so to accuse me of dodging responsibility means you completely missed the point of the post. Did you even read the title of the thread? According to others, the expiration notification system is also not working for them and they are never receiving any alerts.

Thanks for your input though, and your explanations of how to check my minutes on my phone and on my account. Truly helpful..................

Geez, ease up on the guy! I'd be pissed too if for whatever reason I had lost that much cash on a phone account.

Some people just have to be the chiding parent, it would seem. No shortage of that around here.

i was contemplating page plus due to their extremely low minute rates, but i think it was the Gold Rewards that sold me on T-Mobile. as mentioned, since i primarily use my work Blackberry for calls and only use my T-Mobile phone for calls/texts i don't feel comfortable using my work phone for, i have benefited more from the 1 year expiration (hence why i went with T-Mobile).

Page Plus $10 for 120 days of service is pretty solid as well though. which network do they use...Verizon or Sprint?

also, how do i get more profile information to show up in each post? for me it only shows Join Date, Location, Posts, and Carriers (only Verizon, not T-Mobile)

Yeah, Verizon Wireless is PPC's underlying carrier (might be good to spend a little recreational reading time with a broader variety of sub-forums ).

I do only go the cheapest route currently with PPC; the $10 deal (just refilled today, btw). I got into it because T-Mobile lacked coverage in a critical new area I travel to, and I was a little afraid what was going to happen with the result of the AT&T/T-Mobile acquisition down the road.

As far as the profile info, I think all you're missing is the phones part, right? It's in there somewhere, although it isn't, and for me never has been, working quite right. Plus it all piles into the column on the far right making the post header taller than it needs to be, with all that extra light blue field sitting there empty (wasn't always this way). I'd say just experiment with some of the different entry fields then check the results; trial and error method.

I posted a followup to mine explaining I was not getting notices of approaching end of a service month and payment is needed for the following month.
Not the same as your situation.
These automated texts were being sent regardless of having enough in the account to cover a new period.

I do not believe I ever received any texts warning me of a dollar amount balance that will expire on a certain date.
But on the other hand, I only had enough to cover two months until the most recent account funding that went beyond a 90 day period, triggering a small notice line in the confirmation with a expiration date which I nearly missed. This date is in September and it is possible I may receive a warning but I will fund a token amount around that time to extend it another 90 days.

Finally found this at T-Mobile site.

    http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-2186

"For customers on Monthly4G plans, the account balance expiration date is extended 90 days when rate plan is renewed."

The last three Q&A items explaining per minute voice rates is a doozie.

ok i guess i misunderstood what you wrote then.

either way, for the past 3 years i have always received SMS expiration alerts leading up to my expiration date. i never received one last month and due to a combination of bad luck, misinformation from t-mobile themselves, and horrendous customer service, i lost out on a little over $30 in airtime. as stated above numerous times, i ultimately have the responsibility as the owner of my account but i think this situation was a bit ridiculous to say the least (especially being yelled at in spanish by a supervisor...i mean, wtf). i hope they did record that for "quality and training purposes".

    Sorry you lost the $30.
Nobody wants to deal with something like that regardless of who dropped the ball and then get abused by some folks at a forum such as this.
Along with my heads-up thread about the 90 day rule and your post, hopefully this will prevent such mishap for others.

It would be easy for many folks to go past 90 days after adding funds if the phone is mostly used only occasionally and lose track of the date.
I am still not 100% sure if T-Mobile will send a warning the fund balance will expire on a certain date.
(When I look up my account info at the web site, nowhere is a account balance expiration date mentioned.)
I suppose the Gold Rewards/$100 funding that gives 365 days is an option worth considering, especially if it known the balance would be used up well within the 1-year period.
Or, in my case with Monthly 4G, not fund any more than 2 month's worth of service each time as suggested by a customer rep, which is what I had been doing since signing up.

I have tmobile to go sim for 6 years. I am a gold member. I always write expiration on the notebook. Tmobile is so cheap to keep my prepaid account alive.

remember: If you add more money, it will be cheaper.

if you add $100, it will cost .10 cent/min. tmobile.
    $30, .33 cent/min.

I am also looking to get pageplus prepaid. because I will drop 2 lines from verizon wireless.

So, the thing is, you say you know you are responsible. But then much of the rest of the tone suggests you don't really feel you are. For example you say you expect them to make good because you failed to live up to your responsibility. That's not what "responsible" means. They did exactly what their terms said they would. It would be nice if they cut you a break, but it's not ridiculous if they don't.

That said, it sounds like the CSR was a colossal *****. I imagine the whole thing would have been more palatable if the CSR was friendly and understanding about it.

I need to take another look at the terms.
I am under the impression it is 15 cents, not 10 cents, when it drops down from 33 cents.
