LTE phone to 3G phone activation

What's easiest way to reactivate a 3G phone after you've upgraded to a LTE phone?

Can it still be done via MyVerizon? The sim card has me wondering what happens once you start using the sim and want to go to a device that doens't use a sim.

The limited info I have so far is that switching from 4G to 3G requires a call to VZW.

I was under the impression that you could turn off the 4G phone, then activate the 3G phone like normal.

Just do it online on My Verizon, go to Activate/Switch device, enter MEID/ESN. On the 3G phone dial *228 option 1.

Just did it today from a Galaxy S3 to an iPhone on an unlimited data plan if that's worth anything.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Didn't think that would work because I can't move from 3G to 4G via MyVerizon because I have the family locator service. But maybe the other direction will work.

Also the sim card is supposedly good for 365 days after the phone it is in is deactivated, so it should still be good if you get another 4g phone in the next year, though a new free sim is always good too.
