Getting NEW Laptop

I was thinking of asking my parents to get me a new laptop for my BDay or XMas time. So I had my eyes on this one is it a good model, quality, etc.

I currently own the 2009 dvx7 series HP laptop and its lasted me about 3 years had to buy a new battery once and had to have it fixed once as well. Only problem it's had lately is my battery icon says I need to consider replacing my battery for a new one when I just got a new battery last year. Another issue is that my laptop gets TOO HOT sometimes causing it to shut off by itself or having a blue screen appear.

So what should I do? Just hold onto this laptop until it dies altogether or ask my parents to buy me a new laptop and just hold onto my old one?

I wouldn't buy a HP laptop if it was the last brand on earth. Get a Dell!

If you can I'd wait to see how Windows 8 changes laptops. Will they all get touchscreens or will then end up more-or-less like they are now?

I remember when Windows Vista came out and laptops sported a second screen for a while.

I've owned HP computers and am not a big fan of that brand. I prefer Dell, Lenovo (formerly IBM) and Toshiba. Never owned a Sony but understand that they are good too. One thing for me is that they never seem to have enough USB ports.
