I'm completely phone illiterate and some guides out there can be very intimidating for new users.
I just want to upgrade to Jellybean and see what all the fuss is about.
Thanks guys!

Just loving it.
Have a read through this.

Remember that bootloader unlocking wipes your internal sd card! So copy those photos and videos to your computer.

If you're on 4.0.2, you're not getting updates from Google, so this update won't reach you.
There is no "SD card". There are some nice easy tools out there that will do an adb backup, unlock, flash/update, and adb restore for you. But I'd recommend finding someone comfortable to do it for you (if you're not).

The opinions stated here are my own, not necessarily those of my employer.
The Toolkit -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1392310 , will pretty much do it all for you pretty nicely. It can do the back up of your SD Card, Unlock the bootloader, Root, Flash CWM.

Are you sure? This article doesn't seem to discriminate. http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/10/a...-nexus-google/
If your right that is jut BS. I bought this phone to get updates when they are availabile, not to wait for Samsung.
I had yakjuux 4.01 stock and updated it to yakju 4.04 then it magically updated to Jelly bean OTA. It was a pain in the butt finding a way for a Mac user but I just googled it and found a few different methods after you unlock the boot loader. If you use Windows it's much easier. I couldn't be bothered to root it as that seemed to difficult. But also found a way around to work around Google Play Music so have access to 20,000 of my songs in the cloud. Woo hoo
Actually the Nexus S is getting Jelly bean.

I rooted my phone when I read this. Such a piss off.
Well that is what pissed me off. Its a Google phone so it should get update as they are released and not months afterwards. I'm pretty certain that most people were caught a bit off guard by this since this is the first G phone that has this problem. The reason people like myself bought the phone was to get updates right away. None of this waiting. And to see the previous G phone get the update before my phone was just unacceptable to me. I was going to wait, but after seeing the above link, I decided not to wait.

Is there a fix for 3G not working after disconnecting from ActiveSync?
