Add a new line without contract to existing out of contract family plan

Is it possible to add a new line to my family plan without having to be forced into a 2 year contract? I have 3 lines on my family plan that have been out of contract for more than 3 years. I called activation and they were adamant in saying that anything I do will cause me to renew my contract. Do you think I should call retention instead. Has anyone been able to do this? TIA

T-Mobile changed their policy when they came out with the Value plans. They permit no new lines at all without a 2 year agreement. There's nobody that you can talk with to override it. They just tell people who don't want a 2 year deal to sign up for Monthly 4G prepaid plans.
