Porting from Virgin Mobile to Tmobile Prepaid, what do I need?

Just bought a 4g phone from Tmobile, the data speeds for Virgin around the Buffalo area are too slow for me.

What do I need to port my number from Virgin to Tmobile?

I remember reading somewhere that I had to call virgin to get my account number?

How long will porting take? My new month starts on 8/1, and I should have the phone by 7/16. I don't want to risk losing my number, I've had it for 10 years.

    Any tips would be appriciated,

    Cheers!

Activate your T-mobile phone and you'll get a new temporary phone number. Call T-mobile, tell them you want to port, and give them your account number and PIN. Your account number is your phone number. Your PIN number is the password you use to log into VM's website. You have plenty of time, I ported with 2 days left in my VM bill cycle. After you call them, they'll tell you it should take 24 hours. Call them back the next day and they should complete the port.

I ported last week. The service is MUCH better on this side of the fence.

You should ask in the T-mobile forum...

They have plenty of helpful members on there.

My port from VM to TMO took roughly 8 hours, mainly because VM was blocking the port. I had to call about 10 times speaking to outsourced customer service until they finally released the number. (Every call to TMO they told me the holdup was on VM's side)
    Real headache with the port.

I recently ported a TMO number back to VM though and that when almost instantly. TMO released the number within minutes of VM requesting the port.

Also left because of the poor 3G speeds, and sad to say, they're still the same after coming back. However, for my needs (which are a lot of road trips) VM is a better fit. TMO's 4G speeds blew VM out of the water here at home, but on the road, there were too many 'dead spots' and unfortunately you just can't count on TMO for reliable nationwide service.

What is mentioned above MIGHT work, it's better to call Virgin Mobile and ask for your real account number. It is usually a series of letter and numbers. You don't see it when you check your balance. It will speed things up if T-mobile has your actual account number, not the phone number and PIN.

Your phone number IS your VM account number. This is mentioned multiple times on the T-Mobile forum...
