Hey guys
So I recently got the s3 and battery life isn't that great...
In the settings, under "network mode", I chose the "gsm/hspa (auto)" instead of the "gsm/hspa/lte(auto)"...
But the phone still shows the "4g" symbol at the top of the screen...my understanding is that LTE and 4g are the same on telus...

Telus is great!
I set mine to hspa only mode. GSM, HSPA auto mode is pointless on Telus. Telus does not have GSM mode radios.
Telus considers hspa+ as 4g. The symbol changes to say LTE when you are in LTE coverage.
LTE battery drain seems fine when the signal is good but it sucks down the battery when you are between LTE sites. I find hspa fast enough for most of the time and enabling LTE can be done quickly when you want a speed boost.

We think everyone should be able to afford a wireless phone. That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.
