When you call prepaid customer service, how in the world do you get to talk to a real person! None of the choices fit what I need and I can not get a real person, I just keep getting disconnected.

I think you're stuck. I suggest someone at a retail store could give you a hint what to do. Another possibility is that you could post online - perhaps on HowardForums - what you want to do and a "relatively real" person here could help you.

Wildfires in Colorado has taken out one of their major call centers, hence the delay.
Call their toll free number, punch in one, punch in ten digit phone number, (I use all zeroes), punch in two. That will take you to an operator but call times may be long with that call center out. They used to answer fast but now even late at night, they are slow. I hope this is temporary as Verizon prepaid has 24 hour quantity but how the quality is is now in question. We'll see if it gets better with some time...
