Now if I add contacts to my phone, I am sure to save them as a "google contact" and not a "phone contact", and when the phone syncs with gmail, its is automatically saved/updated.
There is a way to manually sync gmail, calendars and contacts to the phone, but I cant remember exactly how. Probably because I just switched phones yesterday again. My contacts are current on both my HTC And Droid phones with little effort.
