    Flex Tab

    http://www.rogers.com/web/content/fl...n-0612-_-slot1

Ok I realize they have a nice infographic saying 1, 2, 3 and it's all easy but seriously is it me or is this totally unclear.

If I pay a small amount for my device and then each month the balance is deducting to $0, is that because I'm paying a small fee off it each month like a lease, or is that because I'm earning a small amount off it each month for staying with them and this is replacing a termination fee?

And is this in replace of a $600 phone being $199 on a 3 year term or do you get the $199 price still and reduce a bit each month until it's 3 years? Or do you pay a small portion of the $600 and then earn you way to a lower price over 3 years.. which if that is case $250 reducing to $83.33 after 2 years sure the heck isn't a good deal when you start with a $600 phone.

Seriously who writes this stuff, this makes no sense and is in no way clear. I'm trying to figure out if I can use this now before my HUP since my iphone 4 is dieing and I need a phone and more then likely won't make it till November.

Anyone got some clarification of how this works since the web and marketing guys don't

It's quite simple, your phone costs $650 outright, you renew on a 3 year term and pay $200 for the phone.
That means you have a subsidy of $450 spread over 36 months, which is $12.50 per month.
If you want to cancel or upgrade before the 36 months are up, simply multiply $12.50 x the number of months left in your term.

Well I called regular CS and got told that Flextab is only for Tablets.

I guess Rogers doesn't actually train their CS when new items come out? The website is unclear and now their CS is unclear. So her answer was to send me to iPhone technical support. His answer was to do a hard reset on my phone. How exactly does that fix signal issues?? Seriously I don't know how much more i can take between this, the internet issues and the Nextbox issues.

That made me LOL, most of the service reps don't know anything or not trained enough on new features. The thing is I have to call in 3 or 4 times to get a rep who knows what there doing.

Eluder is correct. The subsidized savings you get on a new phone will be your "tab" which gets paid off over 3 years (or 2 years depending on which phone). So take the savings you get, divided by the number of months (3 year term would be 36 months) and then multiply the months remaining to calculate the buyout cost.

So essentially, you're just paying off the subsidized savings on your phone if you want to upgrade before the term is up.

As long as you use Rogers on a regular plan ($53+/month for smartphones), Rogers will pay off your phone each month. Other carriers takes 10% of the subsidized savings and add it to your bill which actually takes more than 3 years to pay off usually.

Makes sense.. my question then is can I get this when I am not technically eligible for a hup till November.

I like this better then HUP as HUP is every 2 years, but my last 2 phones have both died at 1.5 years. So a 2 year HUP is kind of useless when I can't get a phone to live that long.
