In fact, if I switch to Mobilicity now, I'll save an extra $5/month. That's $180 over three years. I'm VERY tempted to do this... trust me. I just don't know anything about Mobilicity's coverage in my area. I'd hate to switch then find out it's worse than expected.
If i recall, Mobilicity's $30 plan is just for 12 months. It is not a forever plan, so you may not want to switch.

I'm never letting go of my I35 plan. It's coming with me to my grave (or Wind grave, whoever dies first).

I actually switched from Wind to Mobilicity last year. The coverage and reception with Mobilicity was so bad (at least here in Calgary) that I ported back to Wind in less than a month.
    Thanks. That's what I feared...

Yeah, I found that out after I posted. Definitely not switching to Mobilicity... but it looks like I'm never getting a WindTab either. That's fine. I'm better off paying up front for my phones if I can keep my I35 plan, too.

I'm not mad about this whole thing. Just frustrated. When Wind says they have an "exclusive offer" for existing customers who pre-registered, I actually expect an exclusive offer. That didn't happen. I've said it before but... Wind's service is great (for a new entrant!) but their CUSTOMER service is horrid. I'm just lucky that I haven't had any significant problems that caused me to contact them. The only thing they ever had to do was replace my first SIM because roaming didn't work, and that was super easy.

    You are Kidding Right?

Do you really think a Cell Phone or any other lender/creditors are going to subsidized something of a few hundred dollars with out a credit check. It should be a known fact anytime you request a loan or credit there is going to be a credit check. I have a feeling you already knew the answer you just wanted to throw this in your thread. As matter of fact with cell phone companies any time you are paying for service after you use the service (month to month term with a monthly bill) there is going to be a credit check even without a Phone Subsidiy, again like I said I think you already knew this. If you didn't know this I really have nothing more to say.

I won that case and the subsequent counter case, but the **** I had to deal with and STILL have to deal with 7 years later has put me in a position of being extremely careful about who has control over MY money. When I first joined WIND in January 2010 the primary reason was because of a promise they made to treat pre-paid customers the same as post paid but it's now apparent that they have no intention of following through. Tony's made it clear that the future of WIND lies solely in post-paid and tabbed accounts and their actions in the SIII launch, the recent XBox incentive, and the $200 faux bonus for new sign ups with post paid accounts only prove otherwise. Over 65% of WIND users are pre-paid, is it any wonder a whole bunch of us are royally pissed for being treated like our business doesn't matter?
Wait....are you seriously expecting a tab or subsidy on PREPAID??!

Name one carrier that will loan you money on prepaid lol.

"That 24-month period gave the incumbents all the time in the world to create the Chatrs of the world, create the Koodos of the world", Mr. Lacavera said, referring to the discount brands launched by Rogers and Telus in response to the threat from the new entrants.

WIND with it's GoWell prepaid package. It's like they subsidized the phone through it's service offering.

That has to be the most asinine response that I've had at HoFo. You're kidding, right?

Of course I'm not expecting to have a tab account on pre-pay, there is nothing in any of my posts on this subject that would suggest otherwise, but what I am expecting is for WIND to treat pre-pay account holders with the same respect that post-paid get. That was one of their main promises when they first went into business and it was one of the few reasons I chose to sign up with them. All recent incentives and programs have been aimed squarely at post paid accounts with more than a little bias toward tab accounts: SGIII launch, XBox giveaway, the $200 "bonus"; while pre-paid accounts are supposed to be happy that they now pay more for phones and their business just seems to be getting in the way of WIND's drive towards faux contracts.

When tab accounts were expanded I knew pre-paid accounts were going to pick up the cost of other people's incentives but for it to be so blatently done came as quite the surprise.

I'm curious, where in that post, or any other I've posted on the same subject, does it even hint at me wanting a tab on a pre-paid account? And for the record, I can quite happily afford to pay for any phone I choose, I don't need to go into debt to do it.

WIND could try it. It's really just a form of paying... before.
That way when someone doesn't pay on time WIND hasn't lost anything (a month of service provided).

    Prepaid contracts.... maybe not. :P
    Nevermind Bell.. LTE is fine.

You can definitely get the Samsung GS3 on Windtab if you also already have the HMP. I know because that's exactly what I did 4 days ago when they first sent out the email saying existing customers could switch. Mind you, I did the upgrade at a non corporate location, (kiosk in mall, Vancouver) so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. Maybe the sales guy just didn't know better but either way I have my new phone and was able to keep my HMP (which I've had since it started two years ago).

Just to clarify - the only existing customers getting the S3 right now are ones on the pre-registration list.

Which leads me to believe they had far less demand for this phone then they thought, especially with new customers.

Everybody else (post paid) should get access to the phone in a week. Pre-Paid will probably have to abide by the same rules we've seen.

Unless of course you find out that you need to move into a new apartment. Your job decides that they need to move in to a new office. You meet a new girl and end up spending lots of time at her place.

That's why I don't really like contracts/tabs. You can never predict the future. You may find yourself spending a lot of time in a place where Wind doesn't provide reliable service. If you have to move and Wind's signal is crap in your building then you're screwed. You'll have to make the decision between where you want to live and your budget cell phone provider.

But buying on Tab is always better than buying outright (assuming the same price for the phone) since worst case is you pay off the remaining Tab. Even if you cancel after just one month, you'll have saved $4 if you're on the $40 plan or $2.50 if you're on the $25 plan.

Not if you can always find the phone cheaper than Wind's mostly inflated prices. With the Wind tab it's usually only worth it if you actually stay the full 3 years otherwise the outstanding tab is much too high.

That's why I said, assuming the price is the same. At the time I got my Galaxy Nexus, Wind's pricing was the same as the Robelus. Sometimes Wind's price is competitive (currently on the Lumina 710) while other times (like now for the S3 or Galaxy Nexus) it isn't.

Besides, I was responding to the comment about tabs/contracts being bad because the future is uncertain. An uncertain future is not a reason to avoid a tab/contract. This thread exists because people are complaining they can't buy the S3 outright from WIND at the inflated price.
