    user@carrier.blackberry.net email spam

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry Bold 9900: Mozilla/5.0 (BlackBerry; U; BlackBerry 9900; en) AppleWebKit/534.11+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.1.0.391 Mobile Safari/534.11+)

Anyone else noticed a flood of spam to their carrier provided BIS email addresses this week? I've been hit hard (no pun intended) with Viagra emails (about half a dozen a day) as well as a couple of USPS emails that are filled with trojans. I don't even use this address, and I never give it out to anyone.

I've asked around, and a number of people have told me they too have experienced the exact same thing on their @carrier.blackberry.net email address this past week. I'd love to hear from you guys to see how wide-spread this really is.

EDIT: Moving from the TELUS forums to the RIM forums as I've since spoken with a number of people on other carriers who are experiencing the exact same thing.

My BIS account remained remarkably spam free when I still had it. Perhaps some of those RIM layoffs were the guys doing anti spam work?
    Clearnet Digital PCS

We think everyone should be able to afford a wireless phone. That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.

Yeah I'd never had any issues with it up until now either. The thread I started this morning at crackberry already has 5 people getting the exact same emails as me.

Surely you jest, but there could actually be some truth to that statement.

One good reason NOT to use that account. No SPAM filter and if the address is "harvested" you get more SPAM than you want.

I never even set my carrier email up. Like mentioned above, it is just easier. And, if for some reason you decide to switch carriers, you will lose it anyway.

I would never type in your @blackberry.net email into any website or anything like that. Increases your chances of getting spam you might not be able to control. I would only share this with friends or real people. Might have been some website or something you signed up for, may have given your email to spammers.
