FAIR USE POLICY/ Not Fair at All??????????

In the last 20 days I have used 68.8MB of data and the cut off for FAIR USAGE POLICY is 5GB and they sent me the stupid message below. I have been with Wind for almost 2 years on the pay before plan and just recently changed to pay after because I wanted to take advantage of their windtab. Have others had this problem and how did they solve it???

Heads up! You are coming close to using 5GB of data this cycle. To continue using data at full speed dial *123# to subscribe to our Premium data add-on @ $10/mo

    100% correct,

Their fair use policy is not fair.

Fair would be to limit it to 1Mb/s max, not 256kb.

I wish someone would go after some of these companies to keep them from misleading the customers.

Ya, very true but the point that I was making was that I am nowhere near 5GB of data, so what the hell are they talking about. I will be phone them tommorow and complaining and hopefully they will recind that threat.

Sounds like a system error. Ask them if there was any kind of problem where customers were getting these reminders in error.

If you were being throttled perhaps people would care. As you mentioned nothing about a slow down, one would assume it's a message sent in err.

Overreact much? Its obviously a mistake, I only use about 1.5GB and I have yet to receive a message.

I am using around 1G a mth. No warning yet. There is some remote possibility (besides system error) that you were tethering your phone to several devices the same time and triggering the warning. Just a guess

They say "unlimited" for marketing purposes. It's all a lie and a gimmick.

If indeed their Fair Usage Policy says they start throttling at around 5Gb, why not state it as a "5Gb plan" instead of pissing people off by saying unlimited?

Supposedly, their data cycle resets on the 1st of every month yet I was still throttled. And supposedly the cycle reset might even be the 15th (which was yesterday) of each month, and I'm still throttled.

A few questions 1) How much data did you use before you were throttled, 2) were you tethering and 3) are you sure its not just sucky towers - i.e. are you slow in one area or all over the city? A quick search of these forums shows people claiming to use much more than 5Gb before they actually do get throttled.

    UNLIMITED CANADA-WIDE TALK + TEXT + DATA
(Fine Print: Data download speed 5Mb/s+ until your first 50MB, than we will throttle you to 256Kb/s)
That's what the fine print should say, because it's just a joke. I have 7Mb/s with Rogers on HSPA+ with 4 bars on my GNex, on WIND with 5 bars I get 2Mb/s if lucky...

So pay $80-$100/month and go with Rogers, complaining here won't change a thing.

Well, it still is unlimited in a sense that you can still use the data as much as you want after you use up your 5gb, albeit at a slower speed. It's not like they will charge you anything for over-usage like the Big 3 if you use over 6gb or whatever data plan you have with them.

Not that I think this is really a valid argument, but the amount of data you can download is equal to the speed times the time. The time is a constant (1 month). The speed is limited (but variable). Therefore there's a limit on how much you can use.

So unfortunately, you cannot use "as much as you want" or an "unlimited" amount.

Megabits not megabytes. Don't get them confused.

It's limited to the fact that you can use as much as you possibly can in a set amount of time.
