I did check it out, but, from what I found, the screen is the last thing you can take out...and, since the phone is new (bought it last April), I'm not too tecky to play with it!
Apple Store charges 199$ and they don't replace it, they give me a ''replacment'' phone
Saw in a couple of places that it can be changed for less than 100$...but still, I want to make sure they are reliable
thanks for the suggestion!
My friend here does this as a side business. I'm after bringing him a lot of other peoples devices to be fixed. Works great. Prices are reasonable. Shipping should not be much from Montreal to Newfoundland either. If you want, I will text him to get the price, I can't remember if it was 150 or 100 for an ip4-s.

Hi Steve
Yes, see if he can do it. I don't mind sending the phone to NF
PM me when you have more info!

Have you actually brought it into the Apple store? Even if it is out of warranty, there is always a chance the just replace the whole unit, free of charge. My dad brought his iP4 in (I think because of the battery) after a year and a half to ask about the cost of replacing the battery or the entire unit. They just went in the back, got a replacement unit and sent him on his way. When I went in to ask about some scratches on my screen, the said it would cost $169 to get a replacement device. It's very much a YMMV scenario once you are out of warranty but it is worth asking about anyway.
Unlocked iPhone 5, unlocked iPhone 4
Unlimited airtime, Unlimited CAN/US long distance, Unlimited SMS to CAN/US wireless numbers
2500 Call Forwarding minutes to CAN/US numbers
CiD, 6GB
Google Voice for visual voice mail with message transcription, conditional greetings, unlimited messages (vs 35 message cap), remote retrieval from any PC or phone, no auto-purge after 10 days and most importantly no $7-$8 charge.
$53

No, got it from Rogers.
the 169$ you're talking about is for the iPhone 3GS & 4...the 4S is 199$
Got this phone last April...and no, Apple does not want to do anything about it...which I understand as the phone was dropped...but still, 199$ is a lot for a ''4 months old'' phone...

OK. Shouldn't matter where you bought it. But you are right, the $199 is the price to replace the 4S. They have some leeway whether to charge you at all, I just wanted to make sure you had exhausted that option with Apple before you paid a third party.

Oh yes I did...I think the best way is a ''third-party'' store...cheaper and faster...
