Stupid question, I can still get the ''extended waranty'' from Apple since the phone is not 1 year old yet...is the screen covered with this?
Usually have to add AppleCare within the first 30 days of purchase and may require an inspection of the phone.
Did you buy it on a credit card? Check your policy to see if it extends the warranty. Might even cover accidental damage. If they will pay for the repair, check again with Apple if they will repair it instead of replacing it.

Yes, I did look into doing it by myself...but, seems that the screen (or digitizer) is the last part to take off when doing it... I don't feel confortable to do it...the phone is still new (bought it last April)

did you find the video for 4s disassembly on that site? you can follow the video step by step.

If done at an Apple store, it is their discretion whether or not they charge for a replacement. I guarantee that if done anywhere else, there will be a charge.
