SG note after the ICS update
My screen is bigger than yours
hey all, my brother has the galaxy note and he just got the OTA update to put ICS on it... now he says it is quite laggy. i had a look at it and cannot figure out what is wrong other than that it looks like gingerbread but says its 4.0.4...

Did he try restoring to factory defaults (ie. hard wipe)? My Note on ICS has no lag whatsoever. I also have no issues with it. Okay very little ones, but otherwise great.Originally Posted by batkinson001

he did the restore and it didn't fix the issue... some phones handle updates better than others i guess...

Out of curiosity, did he just install over GB? I see alot of issues with Note users who just do an immediate install over GB without prep work. The majority of users who prepped their device and did a clean ICS install experience very little to no issues. Clean install refers to wipe to factory defaults, upgrade, and another wipe to factory defaults. Yes, we experience some bugs, but they are very minor (notification tones and ringer volume come to mind). Not like the major issues being reported like GPS lock issues, lag, battery drain, etc.
I'm not sure if Kies will allow an emergency firmware recovery. If it does, I can only suggest trying to wipe to factory defaults via android recovery console, do an emergency software recovery via Kies and then another wipe to factory defaults via android recovery console to see if that clears things up.
Otherwise, I'm out of ideas...
