I seriously doubt the age of the account matters as much. You would still be bound to the "60 day rule" as you pointed out. The goal is to discourage folks from buying the device at a discount and immediately selling it for a profit.

If the line (family share) has been active for several years?
I'm not sure if the 60 day rule applies for the phone itself or the account in general.
thanks for the info

If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??
Sarcasm is a fine art...
"Don't believe everything you think"
It's not a matter of if you win or lose, it's how you assign the blame
Do you have a corporate account?
What do you mean by unlock? Use it on another carrier?
The 60-day window applies to the account and not the device. However, Verizon limits 1 unlock per year unless that policy has recently changed.
update...
I called them to unlock the iPhone 4S.
I inserted my foreign sim into the iPhone and then connected it to iTunes. It asked me to download carrier update and I did so. Then it showed that my iPhone is unlocked and the phone itself shows AT&T roaming.
Thanks guys.
I was able to get my 4s unlocked the first day I bought it through VZW. I think you get one unlock per 6 months IIRC.
