my iphone was hacktivated when i first got it, so i restored it in hopes of getting notifications and such on, without realizing that i'd need to have a sim card in it for it to work then. well my straighttalk sim got here today, the at&t one (since the iphone 3gs only came out for at&t) and now that i'm trying to get my phone to activate, it says that there's no sim card in the phone.. what do i do?!?! I put it in correctly and everything, and went through the activation process too
As I stated in the other thread you started, you have to use a SIM card issued by the carrier to which the phone is locked. It has to be a genuine AT&T SIM card and not one from an MVNO using the AT&T network. The SIM card could be unactivated, activated or deactivated. If you use a new SIM card, iTunes might try to get you onto an AT&T voice plan with data plan. If you use an activated SIM card, AT&T might add a tiered iPhone data plan to the line of the person whose SIM card you borrowed if they do not already have an iPhone in use on that line. The safest choice is a GoPhone SIM card or a deactivated AT&T SIM card. http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...1#post14867091

Thank you so much for this answer! i was about to give up and sell my iphone and go try to find another one. So basically what you're saying is to get past the whole activation phase, i HAVE to use an at&t sim card, right? and then after it's activated, i can put in my straighttalk sim card and then use straighttalk's service?
