    Long Distance

I've got a friend who is currently visiting another province...Wondering if they call me if the call is considered long distance for me, if I receive the call(if it's an INCOMING call!)

    Thanks!

    Short answer: no.

Long answer: As long as you're inside your local area you're good. If you're elsewhere, then your friend pays long distance to where your line is "located" and you foot the bill to wherever you may be from there.

Someone else here (I forget who) made the analogy of the two payphones. Your cellphone and where your line is registered.

So, if I understand correctly...She's the only one who pays long distance charges...

Is your friend that is visiting another province from your local calling area? If so and you are in your home/local calling area, why would the call be long distance for you. Look at another way let's say your friend went to France and she didn't tell you and you called her. How can a Cell Phone company send you a long distance bill when you dialed a local number to reach her. Get it?

Now if you are outside your local calling area, any calls coming from anywhere would be Long Distance in addition to Regular Air Time Minutes if applicable

    Hey Pea19!

LouisR has it bang on! You're always good within your local calling area!

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks for the help guys!

jattdesi: Yes, my friend that is visiting another province is from my local calling area...She tried to call me, and the phone said it was out of range/out of service...The call didn't even register on my phone!

VirginMobileCan: Does my friend need to put 1 and then the area code or can she just dial my phone number...I think the problem was on her end!

    Hey Pea19!

It will go through either way-- but it's faster to dial 1 first

The question you asked was, will you get billed long distance. The answer is exactly what I said in my previous reply.

Now for your Friend getting charged is based on her plan it has nothing to do with you. If she tried to call you and if her phone said out of range/out of service it has also has nothing to do with you. I think if that is what her phone said, we all know what that means. It just means her phone doesn't have cell phone coverage where she is.
