    Used the lumia 900 today.

I was at the local telus store today and used the lumia 900 for a while. It is very very nice. The screen does not feel like glass. Feels like the old case badges you used to get with certain parts. Very nice to touch actually. Wp7.5 is very nice too. Overall I'm impressed. More than I thought I would be. I'm jonesin for one to use more often.

I'm an Android person drawn to WP8 by the idea of legacy Windows apps in my pocket. If WP8 is to provide real desktop experience on a cellphone, it needs more than a 4.3" 480p display. And -- this was always Nokia's Achilles heel -- more than a half gig of RAM.

The word 'Pentaband' means '5 Bands', from the Greek word 'pente' meaning '5'. For a phone to be pentaband it has to support 5 bands. If the phone has AWS support, it doesn't automatically mean that it is pentaband. The reason Wind and Mobilicity users like pentaband phones is because the reverse is true. We're not the only ones who like pentaband phones though, so please stop referring to phones that work on Wind and Mobilicity as pentaband. It causes unnecessary cofusion.

Wp8 will support 720p resolutions, I think 1280•768 as well. I think a 4.5" screen can be counted on as well. Sadly, it'll be super amoled with no plus, which looks really bad with solid colours. Nokia really needs to talk to LG or sharp for their screens

That is why I didn't try out the Lumia. I was playing with the browser in the store and websites look noticeably worse versus the newer Android phones and the iPhone. The resolution is simply too dated right now. I have been very interested in seeing what Windows Phone 8 has to offer and can't wait to try it. I was a big Nokia fan so if they can provide a 1280 x 720 screen and a Verizon version, I am all in.

Old Nokia failed to ever give the US any CDMA love. Hopefully LTE and the fact they need sales will make sure they do not neglect Verizon and Sprint. And I don't mean releasing four months later. They need a Galaxy type launch for this device.

It's not the resolution, it's the pentile subpixel arrangement.

let me just pop everyone's bubble. You're NOT going to get legacy Windows apps on your Windows Phone 8 device. I'm really not sure how that rumor got started. What you will get are new Windows 8 metro apps that can be made to run with very little changing of code on Windows Phone 8 devices. It will NOT be the same app though.

The 900 is a super device. I keep going back and forth between it and my Titan. Only thing that holds me back is the screen size (not the resolution). If the 900 was a 4.5 or 4.7 it would be my only device. The 7.8 update in the fall will make it a good value while retaining the WP8 look.

Guilty. The fact that the rt OS will now also use the NT kernel lead me to that speculation. I now understand that x86 cellphones are still a ways off, so a fully consistent PC-tab-cell experience may have to wait for WP9 and a new round of Intel x86 mobile SoCs -- hopefully including one with integrated LTE.

I think it will take a Win8 (or 9 -- not rt) x86 phone to pry me away from Android.
