Bell coming to Winnipeg

Bell has D-Block PCS spectrum in Manitoba... It may not be much, but it's there. It's becoming more a question of where they'll put it than if they have enough to do what they want.

I can't seem to find that on the Industry Canada web site, but maybe I'm doing it wrong. Or is it the spectrum allocated to Fido that was reauctioned/allocated but the thing I'm looking at was never updated?

That aside, why is the concept of roaming on another provider network so foreign (pardon the pun) to you guys?

For years Bell, Aliant, and Telus customers have had some degree of roaming in Manitoba through the technological changes. This is just another technology change. If Manitoba wants to sit in a corner and sulk like a baby by cutting off roaming service that's their decision. I doubt they will do that though.

Isn't that what MTS has done? They jumped into bed with Rogers and told Bell/Telus to take a hike on HSPA, didn't they?

Bell maintains a CDMA roaming agreement with MTS; however Bell's access to MTS / Rogers HSPA coverage is not as clean-cut.

It would be way easier for them if Telus fully built out their network. I know they already reach the majority of Manitobans, but or anyone in the rural areas, it is useless.

I do suspect Bell will go with Telus though, just like they do everywhere else.

well bell is very much ready to launch, they were 90% done setting up the kiosk at polo park when i was there today.

Well any way you look at it, they do add more competition to the scene. Hopefully they will push Telus to put up more towers.

I really hope they will continue to expand beyond what the coverage map currently shows. Unfortunately Bell is not an option for me with their current coverage plans.
