Dept of Labor rules against T-Mobile--says they sent job overseas
"T-Mobile USA unit moved jobs to other countries as it cut local call-center employees, the U.S. Labor Department said, contradicting claims by the company":
Since the Department of Labor stepped in and correctly labeled T-Mobile's call center closings for what it was, outsourcing, the workers that were cast aside by T-Mobile's actions will now be eligible to apply for assistance including subsidies for health insurance. This is certainly excellent news.
T-mobile's former CEO and Executive branch are a bunch of bastards! Every company that ships jobs overseas should be hung from their testicles, if they had any. (metaphorically speaking of course. I don't actually condone violence in an form except for self-defense)
That was stupid. The cheap plans get people, but the customer service is what keeps them coming back for more. Without the good CS, T-Mo's days really are numbered.

I remember the days when calling information was free, live operators were always available and when you called for help you got somebody who could speak the same language you did

The same people that bemoan about jobs going overseas run to the car dealer and buy a foreign car, buy appliances made in Japan etc. We have choices, we just don't always choose an American product when (and in the rare case) we can.
It's just a sad reality.
What sucks about this is the way they did it. Saying it's for a reason that was other than the truth.
Yep. And we have users here who guzzler down "major GBs" of usage, on their Hong Kong imported smartphones, while constantly bashing their carrier...too cheap to walk the walk.

Forgive me, but that sounds a little naive. Corporations are not be trusted. They don't have your best interest at heart. T-mobile was not an isolated incident. This has been ongoing for decades and is much more insidious and widespread than one would think. Everyone understands that we live in a dynamic global economy and that some foreign companies are merged or affiliated with some American companies in such a way as to make them indistinguishable from each other. But American-born companies are outsourcing even though they are making a decent profit right here in America. I'll ask the same question the late Senator Ted Kennedy asked, "Where does the greed stop"? A reporter asked John D. Rockefeller at the height of his career, "Mr. Rockefeller, how much is enough?" And Rockefeller responded, "Just a little more than I have." Here's an article that shows just how pervasive the problem is: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1666443.html
