Superscript 4 is just differentiating between a Text originating from Canada being sent Internationally (for which there is also a charge) and a Text originating internationally (for which the charge is 60 cents).

Most Canadian cell phone companies do NOT charge extra for this.

We can also add Wind and Mobilicity to the list of companies that don't charge extra (on top of any regular text messaging rates) for customers to recieve text messages while roaming.

Well then don't believe it...I don't know what else I can say. Bell does not charge, neither does Rogers or Fido...both as long as you have a domestic text option.

This is a great deal, especially with the Canada wide minutes.

Is Koodo planning on adding LTE anytime soon?

EDIT: I should know better to search first (or even look a few threads down!)

Yesterday, I asked rep at Koodo kiosk and she hadn't heard about it yet. She asked where I'd heard about it.

    That is amazing !!!!
It should be expected. TELUS is gouging us here.

TELUS still has the best roaming rates in general though. My buddy got charged $30/MB to roam in Mexico on Fido; I got charged $5/MB on TELUS.

And I got charged $0 / MB in UK because I was smart enough to not support my Canadian carrier while roaming

Hopefully the age of Enlihhtment will set in. When carriers see $0 a mo roaming revenue maybe then they'll offer a decent price.

    $5 a meg.
    How about $5 a gig

I paid 10 pounds for unlimited data, lots of voice and text on a prepaid SIM in UK I could never justify even $5 / MB roaming rates. I also made sure to get FULL CREDIT for the single, incoming 60 cent text message I was charged for on my TELUS line (despite me requesting a block).

    Yes. But here's a question.
If it was $5 a gig and you could get an add on that had decent voice and SMS rates would you even bother with the uk provider.
I wouldn't. For a few bucks I'll use my carrier. But I'm talking a few bucks here. The current state of affairs means the home networks get my $$

^For a few bucks I would use my Canadian carrier as well. I would ALWAYS rather use my home phone number AND have the luxury of choosing the best carrier coverage / reception / speed when abroad. But at $5 / MB....

Heck; for my 9 day trip, I would have paid $100 FLAT for the data, voice, and SMS that I used while I was abroad. Everyone has their $$.

can someone in the know give a bit more detail on porting a number after signing up? i have a contract with Fido that ends on the 26th of August, but would rather not pay the $100 to cancel right now.

would i sign up with Koodo first, get a temp number, and then port my number on the 26th?

    thanks for any info.
