I knew it. The rep that signed me up was very quiet, but she definitely knew her stuff. Thanks!

Any official document available from Koodo that confirms that it is allowed ?
Or is is just that 'it works' and is tolerated (fair use) ?

mm lol u got 6 gb internet per month
if you thether that doesn't mean u are using wifi , i mean when u thether data is being used, so it doesn't matter if you thether or not , its up to you
the more u thether , the more data u will use it easily
i use thether all the time when i need to use koodo net.
but i always keep check (thanks to my samsung galaxy nexus which shows data usage or you can check it through my koodo)
so why would koodo official will tell you don't use thethering
they are giving you 6 Gb data , not unlimited data

Well, if you look deep into the Virgin Mobile terms there is a section that says outright that you are not allowed to use as a modem. Quote- Our Devices aren’t intended for use as a pager or voicemail-only service, or as a wireless modem connected to a personal computer (excepting any Devices categorized by Virgin Mobile as a wireless modem or mobile Internet Stick), and we may terminate any account if it is discovered that usage is limited to voicemail retrieval or being used as a modem - EndQuote
So yes you are going to use a lot of data with a 6GB plan, but some carriers restrict (or try to) the type of data based on the device you are using (phone or Stick).
Since I did not find anything specific on the subject on the Koodo site I was wondering if there actually was an official position on this, or if "data is data" on Koodo.

^Data is data on Koodo. You're fine.

Can someone with more knowledge help me with this. Someone in my family eventually planned to leave their current carrier (wind) to a different one when the new iphone came out in september/october of this year. Then of course these promo plans came out.

So my question is, what's the best move here? Is it possible to get the 60 buck plan with some cheap-o phone of some sort, and then when the iphone comes out just pay off whatever is left on the tab (Assuming she doesn't buy outright) and then upgrade to the iphone and re-sign.

Or is there a complication I'm missing. I know on Telus you can upgrade any time you want as long as you have your subsidy paid, is it the same for koodo? I'm just confused what their policy is towards upgrades/iphones/etc...

^You can do that. Max tab at any time is $150, so if you owe $50 you can put another $100 towards a new phone at any time.

I see. I never really looked into Koodo for myself so I just didn't understand how they work in terms of contracts/tabs/iphones/etc... Website is a bit confusing. So lets say it comes out, pay off whatever tab I have. Is the max subsidy on an iphone only 150? I know there is a bigger one if you signa 3 year contract but it says you must have an iphone plan. Does this qualify? I is mad confused.

Thanks for the help btw. It's for my mom :P

^No, this plan would not qualify for 3 year iPhone pricing. To get a 3 year contract with iPhone subsidy, you need to pick one of the iPhone specific plans. So if you're using the tab it will be $540 - $150 = $390 for an iPhone 4.

I see. Thanks for the help! So 500 would be the cheapest she could ever get a new iphone model with the plan. Still not bad.

hey you guys, i'd appreciate some clarification about porting. i went to sign up today, thinking of future porting later in the month when my term with Fido ends, and the Koodo rep was kind of confused as to how that would work.

    what i understand:

    1) i sign up today, get a Koodo sim/number, start paying for the plan right away

    2) when my contract with Fido ends later this month, i port my Fido number to Koodo

    it's that simple, right?
    I BRICKED MY GALAXY S2.

Anyone know if Koodo includes tethering with the plan? I assumed it does, but someone on their support forums says that it looks like the website says you pay $0.05/MB to tether. I haven't done it yet but want to know if theres anyone here that knows for sure.

Yes, tethering is included. I have the plan and I do it all the time and I haven't been charged
