Back to my latest question, what options do I really have to fix this? Any other Android phones with better radios than HTC Sensation? Will T-Mobile's network modernization and spectrum reframing effort help?
The modernization plan will help a bit because they are going to start using new antennas which will make the signal slightly stronger than what it currently is. Also from all of the HTC phones I have had in the past they are not the best with holding signal. I got a new sim card and that helped for a little bit but I don't think they want to be changing an expensive piece of plastic out every few weeks. Also if you put your hand by the area where the antenna is it will cause it to flip out and sometimes drop service, I live in a strong coverage area and it would go from full 4G to no service without even trying to connect to GSM.

Telekom hit the nail on the head. T-mobile and Sprint are both stuck with high frequency spectrum that does not penetrate buildings well.

Check Verizon's coverage map for your area and ATT's 850 coverage map. Their lower frequency spectrum penetrates buildings much better.
