Does Straight talk allow switching phones?

I currently have an iPhone 4 on straight talk and i want to switch phones to the pantech crossover by att (don't worry i have a micro sim converter). My problem is I contacted the ST people and they said that if I switch a sim from one phone to another, the data might not work because the sim I already have is linked to my iPhone's serial number in the system and that i might have to buy a new sim card. Is this true? I din't wanna shell out 15 bucks for a new sim card. Help please

It'll work just fine...that's the beauty of SIM cards.

Thanks guys. I have one more question. If I switch to a t-mobile phone (the motorola charm) will I have to buy a t-mobile compatible sim card or can I just use my att compatible sim card on it? Once again im a cheapskate and dont wanna buy another sim card.

You can use your AT&T sim, however since you then will be using it in a TMobile phone, you will be restricted to 2G/Edge (since the AT&T sim uses the AT&T network!)

TMobile uses a unique set of freqs for their 3G service, so any TMobile phone also uses those same freqs for its 3G.

Also...the TMobile phone will have to be unlocked to use it with a Straight Talk AT&T sim.
