    4g busted in Philly?

Getting sub 3g speeds all over from Ivyland (Verizon is trash here btw) to Bensalem (trash too. 4g is worse than 3g which is bad too) but even in center city I'm getting less than 1mbps. Best I've seen all day is 4 mbps.

Severely disappointed by lte coverage for a network launched in 2010 regardless of speeds.

I'm currently in Bensalem right off of Street Road. I just got 9 down 5 up which is well within their advertised speeds. I travel all up and down the northeast from Massachusetts to Virginia on a regular basis and rarely have problems. I'm happy for the most part.

i think your problem is you're using an iphone 4.

Otherwise you'll need to include more info than just you're getting less than 1mbps and your location. Equipment, app, signal levels, all the details you can.

I think he is using the Samsung Galaxy S3, he hasn't updated his phone info yet on the forum.

Maybe they are doing some heavy duty upgrades to LTE in that area or something, but I'm not sure. Trocks may have a much better idea of what the deal is, he is very knowledgable when it comes to VZ LTE.

I'd hope street road is decent. If Verizon can't cover that then they are hopeless. I think Bensalem only has two Verizon towers. one on street road and on 95 near route 13. It's pathetic, it is not 2000, add some more sites; there are plenty of co location opportunities.

I'm near Bensalem Blvd and can't even hit 2mbps. This is outside too. The S3 seems to hold signal a little bit better than the 4so far. Just a crap suburban network.

I am about to travel from Ft. Washington to South Jersey. I will see how it performs. I noticed yesterday I was getting 3G coverage where I have been seeing LTE. My guess they are using the weekend to do some upgrades.

Here are the speeds I was receiving in Ivyland, Bensalem and center city. We were outside the entire time. I am annoyed my inlaws house has 1X, but spotty 3G and 4G. The tower that serves the house has LTE installed. The 7mbps test was done right as we drove past the tower today. If it is only putting out 7mbps right at the tower, I can understand the severely reduced speeds in some of Bensalem. That tower seems overtaxed already. It's located at the intersection of Route 13, Street Road, and I-95. So its handling traffic on a major local street, a major highway, the town of Croydon, and at least 33% of the houses in Bensalem.

Verizon needs a tower in Hulmeville, PA desperately. That would offload capacity for that tower. It's also an area of town where I baely get service outside...unacceptable in 2012 in a suburb of a major city. There are at least 3 towers close enough by to co-locate since I-276 is right there.

I didn't start receiving speeds over 4mbps until we went over the Walt Whitman into NJ. At my house today, a complete 3G deadzone, I am getting 22mbps on 4G. 4G in NJ almost exactly mirrors 1X coverage...I wish they'd get that straightened out elsewhere.

i hate to tell you but speed test is not a true test of your internet speed. it's only really good for a guestimate of your speed.

I can run speed test directly on my device and get speeds of 6-7mbps yet i turn on wifi tether and connect my laptop and boom i'm up to 20-25mbps. Also try changing the server you're going thru it might make a difference.

My speeds are in Philly, Center City(22nd Walnut'ish to Apple Store at 17th.) and University City.

We live in South Jersey and spend lots of time in Philly cause that's where we are from and lots of family still there and we also work in Philly. I can't get the speeds in South Jersey like I get in Philly.

Very true, this server gave me the best speeds over NYC or Philly ones. The internet was crawling slow so I'd say these are accurate or even optimistic of what I was getting unfortunately.

I didn't run any speed tests, but streamed the British Open on a 45 minute ride and it worked flawless. I didn't see any issues at all.

I was up in the Poconos on Friday and Verizon had LTE up and running basically the whole ride up and where I was staying. Their LTE network is getting very big here in the Northeast.

Where? So the LTE coverage is more expanded on 476 than the maps show? My friend lives about 25 minutes from Hazleton and no LTE there yet in White Haven. The 3G speeds there are quite incredible though. Blows my mind the service is subpar in the suburbs, but in the middle of nowhere PA I'll have blazing speeds and full signal strength in the 70db range for miles--certainly not the case in rural Delaware.

If you'd said that 20 years ago, we would have though you meant this-
