    Should I buy a windows 7 phone?

Hi, want a new phone and I am considering the windows 7 mobile platform. I read reviews that the phone now has copy and paste. I don't know why that feature is not standard but whatever.

    Check this out on AMZN:

    Samsung Focus Flash - Unlocked
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00727AODC/..._am_us?ie=UTF8

Should I buy this even though 7.8 is the last update? Before the windows 8 phone release?

Personally, I'd wait for WP8 before purchasing a WP.

I am really considering trying out WP but have been convinced to wait for WP8 because of many improvements to the O.S. and at least an 18 month lifespan per device. This includes bug fixes, software updates etc.

I don't know if you are a windows guy but WP8 will also have seamless integration with Windows 8 O.S. and Xbox.

It just seams logical at this point to wait until October/November when the first WP8 devices arrive.

If I needed a phone right now which was running WP7, I would pick up the Focus S.

Coming from someone who used android for a couple years, and then iPhone for a year or so, I decided to do a straight trade for a Samsung focus flash with someone on craigslist. I used the focus flash for exactly 3 days and that was it. Didn't Like it at all. The interface was easy enough but the customization options were basically non existant and the app store was, in a word, terrible imho. I actually found someone who wanted to do an even trade for an HTC vivid android phone and I jumped on it and have never been happier.. to each his own, but I personally hated the windows phone platform..

I would wait because I own a surround and original focus . The current builds really have no variety in my opinon. I prefer it over my iphone but my atrix is the better of the four. Windows pjone is great if you never had the latter.

I have the original focus and I love it.

I'm going to get WP8 when she comes but realistically, there is absolutely nothing I hate about this phone - it works and it works great.

If you can afford to wait, I guess you will future-proof your purchase a bit and least you won't have spec-envy with the Andork clowns for at least a week.

Can I ask a few questions before I make my purchase?

I heard that there is no tethering without some kind of at&t code.

I heard that there is no Bluetooth file push ( not that it really bothers me ).

I read that you cannot upload files using a wi fi connection ( I don't know how true that one is )

Some people complain that the zune application for windows is not the best experience and takes away form the overall fun.

Also can I get the Google navigation? I have it on my android device and I really enjoy the turn by turn thing.

And a last thing , can I change the color of the tiles and add a background image?

I'm sorry for the mouthful. I just want there to be at least some things that I can customize. I don't really care about the market place on any phone.

    Thank you very much.

Tethering depends on the phone you get and the carrier you're with. If it's unbranded, you shouldn't have any trouble with tethering. Don't get an AT&T branded phone, it probably won't get 7.8.

    Yeah, no BT file transfer.

There's no file manager, so file upload is limited to media files, I don't see any reason you couldn't do that over wifi, not that it's something I've tried.

Zune has a nice aesthetic, but yeah, it doesn't work as nicely as I'd like it to.

If you want Turn by Turn, you'll have to get a Nokia and get Nokia Drive on it.

You can change the colour of the tiles, no background image though. Customisation will be more there with WP7.8 than 7.5, but still it's a very consistent experience, and you can't customise anywhere near what you can do with Android.
The word 'Pentaband' means '5 Bands', from the Greek word 'pente' meaning '5'. For a phone to be pentaband it has to support 5 bands. If the phone has AWS support, it doesn't automatically mean that it is pentaband. The reason Wind and Mobilicity users like pentaband phones is because the reverse is true. We're not the only ones who like pentaband phones though, so please stop referring to phones that work on Wind and Mobilicity as pentaband. It causes unnecessary cofusion.

that seems to be the general impression of WP. the windows marketplace is awful, full of clones and copyright infringing apps. the only decent ones are only half decent because they've been unwillingly developed after being paid by nokia or MS (NOBODY wants to develop willingly for WP). this author described it as a "slimy cesspool" LOL
and there are some people are have given WP a chance, but they say the OS is like a house where there are no light fittings or finishings (ie everything is half finished)

Then would a pantech burst be better? Because I found one on eBay for around the same price.
And Thanks a lot. I tried out the zone software and that is a mess.

Windows phones are quite awesome in terms of their UIs and aesthetics. If you enjoy a smooth easy to use yet fully functional phone, this is it. I just wish they would give out the damn unlock codes for that lumia 900!!

WP7 really is not that bad. It lacks customization, and apps. If you want apps, avoid. If you can deal with knock off apps, it will work for you. The OS is very smooth and fairly easy to use.

Not sure what you're talking about in regards to lack of apps. Most big name companies have a Windows app alongside Apple, Android, and Blackberry. Small companies that only write apps for one or two platforms may not have a Windows app, but there will most likely be a similar app from another company.

If there is a specific app you want, check out the Windows Marketplace to see if it's there.

What I mean is that there is no official Pandora app, you have to use a knock off app, and it doesn't always work correctly (WPRadioNet - previously WPFandora) This goes for a lot of the major apps. And the Marketplace is an absolute mess. The search works correctly maybe 40% of the time. If you don't know the exact name of the app, you can forget finding it.

I wish that WP7 and WP8 in the future becomes a strong force to be reckoned with. I don't see it happening, but I really wish that it would. If my HTC Trophy was capable of a few more things, I would more than likely drop my BlackBerry for it. I just can't do it as of now. I tried, and tried hard. I will sit and wait for 7.8 to come out, and hope that it works on this old HTC device.

I need to know if there is an app to boost sound volume loader than the preset of the stock player. Also I need to know if It's possible to get paid apparently for free.
