Photo Stream eating up all my data?

If I connect my iPad to my iPhone's personal hotspot, will my iPad try to upload/download my photo stream?

It's WiFi..obviously yeah, it will. If they would just make it local network aware, it could save on mobile data usage. Doesn't seem they care all that much about mobile data conservation...like Facetime allowed over 3G, wonder who pushed for that idea, it would have made sense in the unlimited data era, but not with these data caps and overages.

That's weird, my photo stream would only connect over actual wifi not over the carrier system. Check your settings. You may be able to set it up that way.

iCloud = storage service, iPhone = storage device, iPad = storage device. They don't sync device to device, it is service to device or device to service. The medium is WiFi and it doesn't matter what form of internet it is as long as it is a WiFi connection(for mobile devices). I am not talking about using it over cellular data, it is using WiFi(personal hotspot or tethering) off the device using cellular data. The iPhone doesn't need to connect also to have it work, remember it is service to device or device to service. The next time the phone connects to WiFi it will get updated, but there is nothing stopping the iPad from updating to/from iCloud when using WiFi even if it is over a cellular tether.

Photo Stream is designed to transfer data between all apple Products when both the devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi internet connection, so between your iPad and iPhone photos taken from one device will be transferred to the other device automatically without having to sync it manually. Photos in the Camera Roll as well as the Photo Stream will use double the storage space. You can download the Shutterfly app, available at iTunes this app helps to upload your iPhone and iPad pictures directly to your online homepage.
