I just ported over to ST this morning, got a confirmation text from ST at 9:56 AM stating that port is complete. Phone and text messaging working, but still no data. How long does it usually take after porting for the data to start working? So far cell reception is good in the Orlando area with ATT Sim. Hopefully data speeds will be faster than Boost.

Yes, I followed all the information on the red card that came with the Sim card. I went to settings menu, then to wireless & network settings, then to mobile networks, then to access point names. I put in all the info from the card and saved it. There is a green dot that tells me that this is the selected choice. Do you think if I delete the APN and put the information in again, it might work? I have been turning the phone off and on all day hoping that it will just come on, but apparently not.
WHAT phone are you using? I've confirmed for some phones, like the International Galaxy Nexus, ST's APN settings are NOT complete. I created and deleted the new APN several times until I figured out the answer.
See this thread.

This may not be your problem, but just throwing it out there.
I also replicated the issue on my wife's Galaxy Nexus which came a week after mine. Two different GNex, same APN problem -- solved the same way.
Your creed may be interesting, but your deeds are much more convincing.
that sounds like you nailed it. have you went for a ride today to see if you are having tower issues?
check the sim and make sure its att. i have read they can provision as a tmobile and send a att sim. lots of things can go wrong...more on weekends

When I ported over last month I had a similar problem. Turns out they had to configure something manually that should have happened automatically. If the other suggestions don't resolve your problem, give them a call.
I have a Motorola Atrix 2 4G. I tried deleting the APN settings and re doing them, still not working. I tried putting something in the APN Type box, still nothing. I did drive around today and it did not work anywhere. It looks like I'll be calling Straight Talk. Thanks for all the help.
Ok, I just got off the phone with India, I mean Straight talk and they said that everything is provisioned properly in their system and that there is nothing they can do. They told me to contact the phone manufacturer. She also told me that it has to be an unlocked phone for the data to work. It is an ATT branded phone with an ATT sim card, didn't think I would have to get it unlocked. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Don't think the phone is the issue because you wouldn't have voice if it didn't accept the SIM. Call the BYOD help desk at 855-222-2355, they have a better clue than the regular number. Don't know if they're there now, or if it has to wait until Monday. The other thing I've heard is that they have decent support on Facebook, but I've never tried that.
Edit: I'm using an AT&T locked Infuse with no problem.
When I had my problem with the Galaxy Nexus, India tech could not help me either and told me to call USA tech the next day during regular business hours. I figured out the problem and the solution myself -- the APN "type" could not stay "not set", it had to be filled with specific words. But for over an hour the India tech had gone over the settings with me a dozen times and I specifically, repeatedly read every setting to them.![]()
That is probably not your issue, as you have a U.S. phone, actually branded for AT&T and you are using an ST "AT&T" sim. But point is, India tech is not top tier.
Yeah, so far I haven't had to deal with the call centers, but from everything I've read, they often give incorrect information or answers. That is definitely the case here where you were told it had to be unlocked. That is completely false. If you have AT&T sim (I believe someone suggested you check to confirm it actually is AT&T, and they didn't send you the wrong one by mistake), then they will likely have to fix something on their end. Only other thing I can think of at the moment is to ask where you bought the phone. If someone flashed a weird ROM to it and broke something before they sold it to you. Just an idea. Does your data work on wifi? Assuming it does, but since it hadn't been mentioned I thought I'd ask.
Data works great on wifi. Been on the phone with ST and ATT tech support, no help from either. ST is saying that I need to delete all the ATT APN info, but it is locked and not deleteable. I have typed in the ST APN info several times, phone off and on, battery pulls, sim card pulls and still no go.
The only way to delete all the APN settings, including locked ones, is to have your phone rooted.
I used to have a Motorola Atrix 2 so I know it is possible to root it. You can even install custom roms on it. The phone has a very good quality build and I liked how it felt in my hand.
