    Question Specific City Fido Zones

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows the specific zone for City Fido in Victoria or where I could find it.

As you can see, the whole East coast is covered except for Shawnigan Lake, which is weird because we're more in the Victoria area than Nanaimo. Anyways, if the lake is covered then i might consider switching over to this plan. Thanks.

Call and ask an agent specifically whether Shawnigan Lake is included in the Victoria CFZ, because you are considering switching to CityFido. They should be able to find out if the local cell towers there are within the CFZ

Alternately if you know someone with CF and they travel to Shawnigan Lake... when they are there get them to dial: * # 1 2 3 # [send/call], and see if their handset then displays 'in zone' or 'out of zone'

A City Fido map is available at www.fido.ca/plans.

So if the map is the same as the one you shown here... You can rely on it...

If you have the opportunity, switch to Koodo. As long as they have good coverage out there, they are unzoned so you don't have to worry about artificial little zones.

So what you're saying is, the zones have absolutely nothing to do with local calling areas? Because right now I'm with Rogers (previously with Fido) and my local area has always been everywhere south of Duncan.
I'm just looking around at plans right now because having a Rogers family plan is too expensive. The main other plan I'm looking at is the $50 plan at Virgin that has unlimited talk and text across Canada so I thought I could get this plan and some add-ons and still be around that $50 range. It sounds to me like it's not worth the hassle.

Both Fido & Rogers has the same LCA, therefore if you choose the $35.00 City Fido you getting Unlimited Local Calls within the same LCA.

Also, the $50.00 Unlimited Nation Wide Price Plan is also available at Fido...

Ok, that might be a good way to go. I just went to look at the site though, and i couldn't find it. The only $50 plan there now would end up being $86 after adding the LD, CD, VM, and a bit of data as opposed to the Virgin plan ending up at $70 for the same thing.

PS It would be for a Blackberry.

That is correct, City Fido zones are completely independent of local calling areas.

Also, bear in mind the map is a general representation of the City Fido area. If you are near the periphery, inside or out, use *#123# to verify if you are covered.

What would suck with the City Fido plan for him would be when he leaves his LCA and his zone and gets double dinged for out of zone and long distance fees.

    Hi there Jeff,

You might like better this map with which you can zoom in and see what is covered under CityFido Victoria zone: http://www.fido.ca/web/page/portal/F...E58_URB_BC_VIC
As for the $50 Canada-Wide plan no long-distance add-on required as it includes already unlimited Canadian long-distance.
So say you take that plan with the $11 value pack and the $10 unlimited Social Network & IM or unlimited email & IM, it would be $71 plus tax per month.

If you want more information feel free to send me an email on here and I'll check with you what can be done.

    Cheers

Hi there AMD, unfortunately it's clearly outside of the zone, you could still use another plan like the $50 Canada-Wide one.

Thanks for the map. After taking a look, I am definitely not covered. It also looks o me like the person who made the zones has never been to BC and hasn't bothered to do any research.

No Eric, the poster to replied to was a spambot. I was just letting you know. Notice they just cut and paste a portion of the OP.
