Looks like their site is down right now, hopefully this means some updates...
I did talk to a sales rep a few days ago and was told that MTS is planning on having the billing system updated shortly and LTE was to follow very shortly after that. He also mentioned that they had Android phones lined up for LTE and that they were models that were not available in Canada yet. I'm not sure what that could be, maybe the new Atrix or something along those lines.
Nevermind. Its back up and nothing seems to have changed.
I talked to a rep this afternoon - LTE will bring Android.
Carrier: MTS | Handset: Galaxy S3 | Plan: 100 minutes, U/L Evenings & Weekends, U/L SMS, Call Display | Data: UNLIMITED LTE - $16.50
Is this the time it actually happens?
What kind of time frame are we looking at?
Rogers has a billboard up on Portage Avenue touting LTE so you'd have to think it's coming soon.

Singing in the rain and dreaming in Technicolor!!!!! I hope I am wrong.....
MTS has done a number releases which could affect network stability on HSPA and CDMA mentioning LTE as the reason. It is definitely coming just when is the big question
LTE will be great, but it will be data only, and practically worthless until the 700mhz auction is finished, and LTE is built out on that spectrum. Sure, the increased speeds for those in the city will be nice, but I highly doubt MTS will offer LTE beyond Winnipeg.
Course, that doesn't matter, because HSPA is good enough for me, and if LTE means Android, I'll be happy.
You'll be enjoying LTE guys. Trust me.

Little birdie told me that they are launching LTE with a Motorola LTE android. Not great but better than nothing.

Most of the LTE capable phones are pretty good though.
Even if some are pretty old already.
Also, the Rogers version of the S3 is LTE as well. Would be nice if MTS got it as well. I would instantly sign up for a new phone if that happened.
Why wait for LTE to release the phone? Especially if it's the S3. Just market it as LTE-ready.
I would not have jumped ship to Rogers if MTS had released the S3 in July.
Maybe that is their deal with Rogers? They can't release any new phones outside of the iPhone or BBs until they launch LTE? It would make sense from the Rogers standpoint, since it gives them the 'better phone' advantage. MTS might have the better plan advantage though.
I've always wondered why Rogers would get into bed with MTS, since they are the main competitor, and they both use the exact same tower all over Manitoba.
The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.
I think Rogers and MTS signed a deal that prohibited MTS from obtaining the latest Android phones. The only phone they could add was the iPhone, and the new BBs. In exchange, Rogers helped MTS build out the HSPA network, which was something MTS obviously couldn't do alone. Now with the LTE launch, MTS will be able to launch LTE capable Android phones.
Sounds crazy, but its the best I could come up with. I don't want to believe that MTS is literally so stupid as to not want to offer customers the latest Android phones.
