I can't figure out the problem with Toronto though.
The GTA has 631 towers, and Calgary only has 119.
The GTA has about 5x more towers than Calgary, but the population is only 3x that of Calgary, which has fewer problems.
Is it just that a larger percentage of the population in the GTA are Wind customers?
Is there a breakdown of customers by zone available anywhere?

Ok, I lied. I am now experiences issues during this lightning fest. Damn you WIND!
well if you said it this way, than only toronto has problems?
I disagree with you. I've been an Ottawa customer since December 2010. The network is pretty much at it's worst point since I joined Wind. You have to be lucky to crack 1mbps on a speedtest these days... Just did one from my office here in downtown Ottawa and got 0.71down/1.45up. Not acceptable.
I do have signal in many more places than I used to back in 2010, but i'm finding more and more that I can have a full signal and still not be able to use data or make a call. In the past, I may have had trouble getting signal in many places, but at least I could count on the phone working where I had signal. Now I can't.
Looking for some advice. I currently have the HMP plan, but no work "just" outside of the Wind Home zone. This has lead to some pretty big wind away bills from texting, not minutes. I am debating either switching to the new Koodo plan, but I was wondering if I changed from a blackberry to an Android could I get away with the Vonage Mobile app that uses your existing number to text through data. I am on wifi the whole time at work.
Thanks,
I'm going to have to eat some crow. I did go to Koodo for the Super 6GB plan but I am now back on Wind. Wind has large network problems but the price still cannot be beat. Wind offered me the Irressistible 35 plan to come back so I took them up on that.
Okay, so why would I come back if the network isn't to my satisfaction? I've found that the Bell/Telus, and Rogers networks also are problematic in areas that I frequent.
Try Bell/Telus in Samuel Smith Park south of Humber College South in Toronto - it doesn't work - almost zilch signal so bad that you have zero bars and voice calls constantly cut in and out. Add that to the fact that with Telus, I had call routing issues and I was constantly getting "your cannot be completed as dialed" error messages. I had to continuously dial a number 5 times or more to place some calls.
Rogers in the Ourland Park area of Toronto - not good
Mobilcitiy - very small network and problems in Marie Curtis Park (Toronto)
Wind - Stonegate +Swansea (Toronto) communities: let's not even go there
Also, data latency is pretty bad for me.
So perhaps I'm unsatsifiable but if I'm not completely happy with any of the cell company networks, I might as well just save the money by staying on Wind now.
