    PP Now selling Android Smartphones

I don't know if this has been posted before or if anyone has noticed, but PP is now selling Android Smartphones on their website. It's good in a way since some people prefer to buy PP Certified Phone. It's too bad that the phones they are selling is way overpriced for these phones. The Kyocera Milano at $179.99 and the Motorola Citrus for $99.99. I don't about the Milano but I think the Citrus was a bad choice on PP part it was very sub-standard way-underpowered phone that could not run alot of applications. This type of phone would just lead to complaints and make PP look bad. However, thats just my 2 cents. Any Other Opinions?

I suppose it's a step in the right direction, but like you said those phones are overpriced and poor quality.

I wonder if Page Plus customer service would provide tech support for those phone models even if they weren't purchased from Page Plus? Even if that's the case, it would be better to buy a better phone and get tech support from a dealer or on sites like this.

Fonefonz, I agree. However, like slinkwyde said, I think its a small step in the right direction. Because I know some people that don't want to deal with the issues that byod brings. They just want to buy PP certified phones.

I am another one in agreement as they immediately seemed high priced to me. BUT . . . I could see them having their place, especially if not loaded with bloatware, for someone like myself. I already have a Droid 2 so am not planning on getting one of these; but the only thing I have added to it is Wireless CapTel by Sprint that requires Android 2.2 or higher. As many of you know from other postings I have made, with my lack of good hearing I am among those that need this app to know what you are saying to me on a call.

I am really wondering about the pricing on the Kyocera Milano. It actually looks like an interesting phone, if it were cheap.

In my area Kroger supermarkets sell I Wireless, yet another Sprint MVNO, they offer the same Kyocera Milano for about $80 brand new. They don't appear to be locked down as tightly as some other Sprint MVNO phones either, pretty much standard Sprint branded phones.

Not sure if you realize it or not but PagePlus is a Verizon MVNO!

For non-geek buyers (unlike most HoFo posters), they don't seem to be significantly better or worse than many of the prepaid Android smartphones one can buy new elsewhere.

Though I get the argument that they're overpriced: I can remember seeing the Citrus as a $170 prepaid in Best Buy a Christmas or two ago--$100 still seems high. And the Kyocera Milano is probably $30-50 higher than it should be compared to what one might find on BB and Walmart racks.

Still, they're not offering these phones for the benefit of most on this message board.

EDIT, 7/25: After further examination, calling the Kyocera Milano a ripoff is silly compared to the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim (NET10 and Straight Talk's smartphone using VZW towers). The Sammy only has a bigger screen (3.5 inches versus 3 inches) and a slightly faster processor (1GHz vs 800 MHz). The Kyocera matches it in Android 2.3, 3MP camera, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi--and bests the Proclaim with a QWERTY keyboard option and hotspot capability (mentioned on the Kyocera website, not Page Plus'--do we know its been disabled?).

I think he knows that, but his point was that it is the same CDMA phone. Comparing same phone prices across mvnos is really the only valid way to compare prices. It is possible that there is some subsidizing going on, but not as much as what one might see on contracts.
