Net10 APN vs ATT MVNO?

Hello,

I just activated the Net10 BYOD Sim (found the experience more polished than Red Pocket!) and my Nexus still has the ATT.MVNO APN.

Net10 suggested I use the following on their web site:

Once you have reached your phone's APN (Access Point Name) setting:

Create a new APN with the following values:

APN Name: NET10
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80

Delete the current APN from your phone.
Reboot your phone.

I've been using att.mvno but wihout the Proxy for an hour or so and everything works fine. I'm curious if anybody has any knowledge/experience about what might be different?

Would the proxy perhaps assist with roaming? Or slow data down?

I'm very curious. I could try putting it in and comparing speed tests etc...
