Google Voice Questions with $50. T-Mo Plan

I'm confused on how best to utilize GV. I currently have a GV number that forwards to my business cell phone. If I port my business T-Mo cell number to GV, will I lose my assigned GV number? So if someone calls either number, I can set both to call forward to my new cell number? And if someone sends me a pic message to my ported cell number, would I receive it or not? Or the only way to receive the pic is to have them send it to my new cell number directly? And if someone sends a text to my ported cell number, would I need to reply via the GV dial/text pad app? Thanks for the help!..I'm somewhat confused on these procedures.

I have used Google Voice for two years but I am no expert. Howard forums has a Google Voice forum. GV allows you to forward to more than one number but I don't think the forwarding numbers can be used with a septate GV account. If you port to GV they will deactivate your current GV number within a few Weeks. If you want both numbers I suggest you open a second GV account.

Although I loved the features, I had to stop using Google Voice for my business because it was too unreliable. Often times callers will go straight to voice mail and your forwarding number will never ring. All circuits are busy is another problem. Finally the voice mail greeting did not always come on when someone called me.

Thanks TMO. I did not notice the Google Voice section here on the forum. Thanks for the heads up with your experiences and problems with GV.

It would cost a total of $40, but yes, you can port your mobile number to voice AND keep the original voice number on the same line. Both numbers would route to you. Just port in the mobile number. When that has completed, both numbers will work for 90 days. You have until the end of that period to pay another $20 to keep the original GV #

Now that is something that I did NOT know!

Don't forget that you would need a new number on the cell phone whose number went to GV, for obvious reasons.
