HTC inspire 2.3.3 update defective

I honestly loved my inspire until it started acting up. My inspire had the following issues. 1st thing i noticed is that the messaging app was severely damaged. When people text me, their names or contact items do not show up, only a #, even if I have them saved in my contacts. The next issues is the one thing that just infuriates me, when i need to correct something in a text, the messaging app KICKS ME OUT of the message and takes me to a screen that says delete by selection and it wants me to delete other text messages, it takes about usually 20 times hitting the back button to get out of that screen sometimes not at all where i have to close the app where the message saves as a draft.Among other issues, the phone seemed much more laggy and the signal strength decreased drastically. I complained to warranty and they sent me a new phone. My 2nd one has the same issues and now I am onto my 3rd inspire. Its now to the point where I lost all my trust in at&t. Is there any way to go back to 2.2 or root my phone so i can remove the update & repair the damage done to my phone, other than using the ACE hack kit, it refuses to run on my computer and yes i read their "effin" manual. Any help will be very appreciated.

May wanna try the latest update that came out on the 31st? seems to fix everything it has now become 2.3.5 with sense 3.0.
