Do you guys think its the phone?
Have you been able to acquire a known good SIM card to test the supposition? You have already shown that the SIM card is activated and will access the network by using it in another phone. No one would want to tell you that it is the phone unless you get the same problem with a non-Straight Talk SIM card.
Actually I chose Home 3G on my Prism, but see what ChazzMatt says.
Moto Atrix 4G: M Montuori's Atrix-MROM 2013-02-13 (CM7.2)
tmo SGS 4G (poor reception): bhundven's unnamed v1 (GB)
tmo (Huawei U8651T) Prism, CWM recov v4, CM 7.2 stable rom for U8650 Sonic
can you do a factory reset?
I WILL suggest that the radio is bad.
could you be in an area where you are roaming? I noticed that option was unticked in the screen shots.
I was able to secure somebody's sim card for a dumb phone and was able to send a text message from the phone with it. I'm trying to see if I can get another smartphone sim card from somebody to see if the radio is bad. Is there anyway to test for that without a known working sim card?
All SIM cards are the same. There are no smartphone SIM cards. If the message was sent successfully, the band used will work for voice and text messaging. What are the beginning six numbers on your Straight Talk SIM card? SIM card numbers have twenty digits.
In that case do you have to set up the apn settings with another sim card? If so could someone post the apn settings for at&t? The first 6 numbers on my sim card is 890141.
